Finding Accommodation in SJPP without Communal Meals or Public Speaking

When I stayed in Orrison with a group of friends, only one of us spoke, waving around the rest of us as fellow travellers. Shortly after, a lovely Brazilian girl in a mixture of Portuguese and english spoke about how happy she was and started crying. After that the place clapped and cheered and...

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Maths and Covid 19

As someone who uses statistics in my work, I'm well aware of this fact. However I picked one simple reference at random amongst many. To protect myself and my family, I went to the trouble of looking into reducing risk if we should become infected. We can do no more until there is a vaccine...

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Maths and Covid 19

I understand everyone's concern about disinformation on the internet. This is a huge problem and as well as that, the politicisation of science has become a problem. This is not a topic for here nor will I go into the problems with the affects on my own science speciality. My purpose is to point...

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Maths and Covid 19

I stick to our government's advice and guidelines. This is because my community does and I don't want to upset people. However I read this some time ago: http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/download?doi=10.1.1.552.1109&rep=rep1&type=pdf I am not a specialist but find it interesting that it was...

    A Tiny Bottle of Liquid

Put at it's simplest, in Europe, the 1 litre/1 US quart transparent bag can contain liquids/gels/pastes up to 100ml/0.1 US quart for each item. My experience is that occasionally some people have more than one transparent bag (for example a LOT of makeup) and don't get into trouble as long as...

I Need starting advice from Porto

Yes we did the same last May. The Metro also can get you to the coast at Matoshinos to start the Littoral, if you don't walk down the Douro and 'round the corner'.

LIVE from the Camino Our Vegemite only lasted 1400km

Hillwalking in Ireland in cold weather - the thermos contains Bovril in preference to milky tea (probably need a separate thread to discuss tea...)

LIVE from the Camino Gudbrandsdalsleden - Eidsvoll to Trondheim

Thank you Purky for a brilliant travelogue for this pilgrim way - I am following you regularly. I hope your injury is not serious. I would be really grateful if at some point you could share your packing list - I note your tent is a Terra Nova Laser Competition which I had shortlisted myself...

On Camino again doing first aid

I used my antiseptic cream for the first time this year on a Romanian infected blister. Meanwhile slightly off-topic, I would love to see a photo of your Berlingo set-up. There are many conversion set-ups out there but none I have seen with a loo! I am soon to do the same with my Berlingo.

    Alternative Route - Camino Frances

You would have to walk very quickly - it is 320km! I would take a train or bus and enjoy Leon.

    Camino Portugues - Last 100km

I have just completed Valença to SDC. Starting in Tui just across the border - O Porrino - Redondela - Pontevedra - Caldas de Reis - Padrón - SDC. If that is one too many days, you could do Tui to Redondela which is long, 31km. See www.gronze.com/camino-portugues. It was a great walk, lovely...

    Rail strike

I learnt about www.blablacar.com here. Isn't that worth trying?
