    Copo de agua

Copo is a flake; copa is a glass. I don't think that was the source of any confusion or resistance, but couldn't hurt to ask for what you are trying to get! ;)

New Forum Topic... Portable Clothes Wringer?

Agree! That is absolutely something not worth lugging around on your back!! And the rolling it in your toe and stepping on it is the technique I've used a lot and really helps. That plus, of course, bringing quick dry clothing.

Is it OK to write emails in English when booking accommodation?

Good idea. Free translation programs are getting better and better but aren't perfect. If you want to, copy and paste this to preface or follow the message: " Esta traducción fue hecha por Google. Perdone cualquier errores."

    Albergues from Porto

    Agree!!

How to address other Spanish speakers, Formal or Informal?

"Disculpe" = excuse me, as in "may I interrupt you" as opposed to an apology, although it means that as well. Waving a hand. My Spanish is Latin American, but to me, "chico/a" does not sound respectful. Perhaps a native speaker from Spain on this list would chime in that it's not the same in...

How to address other Spanish speakers, Formal or Informal?

Yeah, but that was written in 1485 and usage has changed a bit in the last six centuries. I'm speaking from 21st century experience.

    Spiritual Variante

Nice to see a place has finally opened up in Ribadumia - when I walked it in 2016, I was assured by the tourist office in Pontevedra, google, and someone at the monastery in Armenteira that if I kept walking past Armenteira to Ribadumia, that there were accommodations there - at that time, there...

How to address other Spanish speakers, Formal or Informal?

Usted is neither as dated nor as formal as thou. I recall hearing it a lot more than vosotros in Spain. Usted is a safe bet with someone you do not know well, although I would tend to address fellow pilgrims in the informal mode, and people in stores restaurants, hotels, etc. formally. People...

What is the best app to learn some Spanish for the Camino? Thanks

Consider live classes - in person or zoom. I think there are Institutos Cervantes in many places, and so many other options. Way better way of learning, for me, than the "escuche-repite" of most programs.

    Toilet paper on the camino

Hear, hear!!! We pick up after our dogs on walks all the time - just pack a bunch of poop bags, and be a respectful visitor to those beautiful countries!

what Camera option are people using

I brought a good quality compact camera as well as my phone, and used both. Phone's camera outperformed the Sony, especially in low light.

    Cobblestones and Setts

Not sure what setts are to you. Google says they are badger dens, and that is not an issue on the Camino! Cobblestones, on the other hand... even with thick soled good quality hiking boots (a brand I have used for years and years with 0 issues), my feet were screaming in pain after a few days...

    Communal dinners

One of the things I enjoyed about the Camino was letting go - taking the pilgrim meal that was offered, and ordering "un vino tinto" without asking what varieties were available. Never disappointed with what I was offered (and I am normally a pescetarian).

    Crinkly Plastic Bags

I lined my pack with a plastic bag to keep bed bugs from getting in. I had no idea how noisy it would be until I was using it. And then I did what you did, carrying the entire pack outside the dorm room as quietly as possible, so I wouldn't make crinkling noises right around people trying to...

Switching to central - Mindelo or Vila do Conde?

I crossed at Vila do Conde 7 years ago, So keeping in mind that it's been a minute, I don't remember bad road crossings at that point. Having said that, I found I enjoyed the Central route more. So if there's the way to get there earlier, I would say follow the tourist office's advice.

    thin lightweight flip-flops?

I took crocs with me. In addition to their big clunky style that one normally associates with crocs, they make lightweight ones as well. Sturdy enough to walk around town or even one day, the last mile to town, and super light weight and compact..

    How to order Pinxtos?

Aww, first time I've seen "porfa" outside of Chile! Love that expression! :)

    Hydration pack or water bottles?

At home, I always hike with a hydration pack, but switched it out for the Camino because of ease of refilling water bottles. Excellent choice on my part - I never had a problem finding water - if not a fountain, then an accommodating restaurant or bar. Having to dig a hydration pack out of my...

    Vigo to Santiago-distances between lodging

I have heard of people grabbing a taxi to the next town, then in the morning, another taxi back to where they left off, to resume. That's one way to do longer stages.

    Toilet paper on the camino

Bring dog poop bags with you - super lightweight and inexpensive or free. Then dispose appropriately. I agree, it was disgusting and sad to see such lack of respect for our hosts.
