I have a wide toebox but wides allow too much heel movement. I used Oboz low ankle hikers and Teva Terra sandals. I also have Topo tennis shoes, but I wouldn’t take them on the Camino because I can feel rocks even at my local park.
Instead of a fleece jacket, I took silk long underwear—very light. By the end of October, I had silks on, hiking pants, rain jacket. I only took 2 spf shirts and 2 pants. It was really hot in early September but chilly by early November.
I received 2 spider bites in 2018, but I don’t remember what town. I ended up breaking into hives and went to emergency room in Ponferrada. Steroid shot took care of it.
During my training before my Camino, I found rolling my feet over two frozen water bottles gave great relief. Of course, that couldn’t happen in Spain but it sure helped get my feet ready for the daily pounding.
I lived on the Rez and worked at Tuba City Boarding School for 6 years. My heart is so sad for the Navajos and all other First Nation people’s. Doctors Without Borders arrived on the Navajo Rez last week, so here we are as a first world country getting help typically reserved for third world😥😥

My hotel in Burgos told me a hospital that took care of foreigners. I don’t know the name, but your hotel or a nearby pharmacy should be able to tell you. I actually left with no charge—not sure why except I just got a steroid prescription from the doctor. He signed off and told me zero charge!
I disagree totally! I had some great homemade soups and pizzas along the meseta, plus I thought the hospitaleros were extra warm and friendly—maybe because so many pilgrims just rush by without checking out some of the charming garden cafes not visible from the path.
I just completed my first Camino and have had a pacemaker for nearly 5 years. I got fitted at REI with an Osprey Tempest 40. I was between sizes (female), took one home and loaded it and walked. I decided to go one size up so traded my xs for a small. I never had any trouble with shoulder strap...
Ju
st walked past the "Imagine" lyrics today. It was less offensive than all the other graffiti but still . . . Why does every single thing get written on??
As of November 1, I was in Sarria and heading toward Santiago. Ive been surprised how much is closed--both cafes/bars and accommodations. Some had signs up saying when they'll reopen, but many are just shut down. There was so much open from my start in Roncesvalles until November 1, that I've...
