Forest Fire Status in Portugal

Hey all, We start our trip next Monday, Aug 5th, and as I look at the suggested stops I was struck that many appear to be in surprisingly large towns (or perhaps towns are smaller than they appear?). Help with Portuguese Coastal Way
I'm finding Luis Freixo's maps really hard to understand - I'm new to this and it's fantastic detail, but almost too much as I am getting lost trying to figure out what all the different colour coding means, and can't keep it all straight. Any advice on how to decipher?- JMo
