Storage looking wooden structures along the camino france

I thought they might've been giant beehives at first! Then I realized they were only present in farms with cornfields. Much lovelier than the corn cribs of my native Pennsylvania, all chicken-wire and old grey wood.

'Loud crowds' from Santiago; or, How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Way

"I thought they swung the botofumiero after the mass just so people could "film" that event? Has this changed?" "In any event, I've never seen a video or film that does justice to the majesty of the botofumiero live. On film it seems diminished." "I was told then that the tour companies paid to...

    Tremendous Massage Aruzua-Santiago

Holy cow, Damian came out to the place we were staying in Arzua (Pazo Santa Maria must have some standing relationship); perfect, perfect massage, centered exactly where we needed it, for both my wife and myself, and we prefer different styles. Would call again.

'Loud crowds' from Santiago; or, How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Way

With respect to the basket o' puppies, while they were adorable, they were behind both a small gate and the paranoid watchful eye of their mama, a King Charles Terrier (papa, a German Shepherd, sat sprawled in the sun like the cat that drank the cream). So close contact in either direction was...

'Loud crowds' from Santiago; or, How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Way

Greetings to all the good people of Ivar's Forum! My wife Kelly and I have completed our Camino, starting at Sarria on the 3rd, finishing on the 11th. If you were on-Camino at that time during that stretch, you may recall us, as we were the fat ones. And I mean, like, the ONLY fat people doing...

    Two Week Countdown!

I may not have been totally clear and my apologies for that; our packs are 10 and 8kg fully burdened with 2L of water and snacks. Also I ditched my kettle and tiny stove for a 500g drop. So our base weights are 7.5kg for me and 6kg for her. The root of the trouble in the Sierras was that our...

    Two Week Countdown!

After months of planning and fretting (so much fretting!) my wife and I are finally a fortnight away from leaving for our Sarria - Santiago stretch on October 4th. And we may be ready for it, or as ready as one can be in a world where God laughs as man plans. I'd ask worriedly about bedbugs...

Curious, where and why did you get your Credential?

Ours are from American Pilgrims On The Camino, but if I had at the time known I could get them from Ivar to support this forum, I would've gotten them from him!

    2016 September/October Peregrinos Departures

My wife and I will be starting in Sarria on October 3rd. We will probably be slightly slower making progress than Buz of the big Osprey pack. My pack is an Osprey as well (green) and my wife'll be carrying an adorable REI Trail 40 with a yoga mat on top.
