    UK Guardian story today

What a delightful read. Thank you so much for sharing.

Anyone use Hoka One One shoes?

I wore challengers and found them to be perfect for me. I wore 2 pairs of socks, so went half a size up. On my 6th pair now and will never return to the dark side!

Blisters - Is it too late to change boots?

Never too late for a change of shoes. I would urge you to really consider lightweight, wide shoes a bit bigger than your usual size. I know when I was training, I didn't find out until the 16km mark that the wheels would fall off in terms of shoes, socks and blisters. If you have doubts now, let...

    The Introverted Pilgrim

Wow, what an interesting post. I am a card-carrying extrovert and some of my finest memories of my camino were the connections I made with others. I definitely feel the need to have a chat and I enjoy meeting (nice) strangers and learning about others. The only times I enjoy being alone are when...

    Favorite Leg/Section

I just loved SJPDP to Burgos. The Basque food and architecture was fantastic and then led into the Rioja wine region. Nothing like walking through vineyards. I thought it was a spectacular part of the Frances.

Long Walks (more than 10 km) between Albergues

Thanks for sharing this information with others. I think its very relevant, because it does inform whether you continue on or stay, depending on how you're feeling. I vividly remember each of these stages, some I found easy and picturesque, some were a tough slog. I'm sure we each have our...

    The Pre-Camino Time Warp Begins

Fantastic to hear you're heading out there again. I think as adults, we have so many obligations and responsibilities to undertake before doing something big, that it is a stress getting it all done before departure. Buen Camino!

I probably won’t do this again

the exact same thing happened to my husband and I when we walked last year. Luckily for us, the offender was a bicigrino, so we never saw here again! She must have been single, to have such a lack of self-awareness of her snoring habits. :)

What was you best moment (apart from walking)?

I would have to say this is almost impossible, but I do fondly look back on photos of the medieval pilgrim statues such as in Mansilla De Las Mulas, Leon, Astorga, Alto de San Roque and Monte De Gozo especially and I felt most connected to the pilgrimage at those times. I understood how they...

    Leon Cathedral

I would consider the route to take out of Leon. Last November we took the scenic route through Mazarife. It was 3km longer than the highway, but unlike the highway, we saw only about 3 cars. We had decided that we were happy to take 3 days to walk from Leon to Astorga. I can recommend the...

    Shoulder Strap Irritation

I used the sheepskin seatbelt covers as mentioned above, on the underarm part of my shoulder strap, because it was causing rubbing. They worked perfectly and my Aarn backpack was otherwise perfect!

    Meseta in October?

We were on the meseta in tha last week of October this year and the weather was foggy in the morning but warm and sunny from aboutn10am onwards. Cool evenings. Ideal weather, I thought.

Bucket List - What we must plan to not miss on the Way?

I agree with all of the above. The memorable moments for me often include people: other pilgrims, supportive albergue owners, helpful pharmacists, animals etc. The stillness of the meseta with its gorgeous full moon and sunrises. The shocking hail storm we got stuck in with no shelter - it was...

    Road works at Ribadiso.

I walked through today. 1 albergue open but no bars until Arzua.

Training for Camino - my worries

Great to hear, I'll be wearing Hoka Challengers in a couple of weeks when I start my first CF. Thanks for the vote of confidence in Hokas - I absolutely love mine!

Training for Camino - my worries

sounds exactly like my training walks at the moment. Finding it hard to get them in, with working full time and needing to be 100% well to walk a long distance. An optimistic attitude might make the difference for me! ;)

Making up questions just so you can post to make people jealous

You'll have to get your Macgyver skills onto it, me thinks. You'll be well versed on this, given the caminos you've done and are about to embark on. I'm sure you'll tell us how you managed on your CSP when you return - you won't need any encouragement I'd say!

Making up questions just so you can post to make people jealous

I loved your blog! However, I don't have much time to read this thread, given that my husband and I are just weeks off starting our first CF. You know how it is, packing all the lightweight gear, checking and rechecking... ;)

Difficulty in making a reservation at Refuge Orisson

That's weird, I booked 3rd October at orisson back in early February with no hassle at all.
