I know this is a question on gear and I can see you are allowing a lot of time for your Camino but I would really recommend you try extending your walking distances before you go. Yes, those shoes may be ok for 5 miles but not for 10. Yes that weight (if you have walked with it) may be ok for 5...
Sorry, just that you said 5am. I was never up at that time but assume quite dark. Anyway, plans change on Camino. I actually slept better than I have in years, didn't go to bed earlier, just slept later so had a later start
I walked in June and never met any nasty bugs. Just one section where bluebottles turned up en masse (large flies, not sure if that is the term in other countries). Fortunately they only flew into my face in ones and twos and I became very adept with the wrist strap of a collapsed walking pole...
"head lamp... I'm going in summer so I think light will be enough to walk by around 5 - 6 am"
This is Spain, sunrise in July is 6.30am. The anachronistic time zone throws people who expect sunrise about 4am mid summer
Jacotrans and Correos. Very easy to use and reliable. Tip, do not leave anything of value in your pack. I know for definite my pack had been gone through at least once whilst in transit or before collection/post drop off.
You don't like stone cairns? Well, next time you get to Cruz de Ferro you are going to be heartily disappointed with people!! Although I have heard it has been recently "landscaped" so the cairn may be no more

BTW, your point on aluminium is my view too. Years ago I read an article in a science magazine where a scientist made the link but he was...
Sorry to correct you but banks in the UK do call you if they suspect a scam. At least First Direct does as they have had cause to phone me three times. A couple for small uses of my credit card which they caught and the third was a biggie. I asked what I could do to avoid this and they said a...

The OP points to some people setting of at dawn, could I point out sunrise in June in Spain is around 7am, so not that early. Aiming for an 8am departure is not too late
As OnHellas says above, during various motorcycle tours of Spain I saw many people walking and did comment several times to my friend about it, such as "What are all these people doing wandering about in the middle of nowhere?" Given our tours were meandering we never got a sense of their...
Less than 85 miles over 14 days but they will still be taking buses etc. Hardly challenging. Yes, I know they are going slightly out of their way but they will be transported to "climb" Snowdon. As for the "pilgrimage", it was only created in 2011, as for the "celebrities, I am a Brit and I am...
