These are what stand out in my memory!
Hondarribia -old town walls, then eat upstairs in the fish packing plant
San Sebastián - Aquarium and pintxos
Zumaia - detour to see the beach used as Dragonstone in GoT
Markina-Xemein - Church with huge rock
Gernika - the Oak, the painting, the story...
Places where cyclist route differs from walking route include;
Between Hondarribia and Santuario de Guadeloupe - uphill - stay on road to avoid sandy track,
Between Pasaia and San Sebastián -for shortcut stay on road that goes past Arzak’s restaurant,
Leaving San Sebastián - take road to Igueldo...
Hi!
I used this to get an idea of stages... We were crawling, you might do two or more of those stages per day!

I also used the Wisely Norte app to see the...
We did on average 25km a day (as with kids 9 and 12) so I’d expect that isn’t much help! 33 days of cycling from Irun, 15 of those were on this trip... roughly followed the Euskadi Tourism leaflet...

Wikiloc has various cycling and MTB routes for the Norte. I have used the CSJ’s 2 part guide, which has some advice for cyclists on which parts are less suitable for cyclists. I poured over google maps and Norte app and plotted route onto ViewRanger at home beforehand to reduce the decision time...
So... my husband had an accident 2 days ago and broke 3 ribs, he was due to go from Villaviciosa to Luarca with us, instead he’ll be at home worrying about us while I’m worrying about him... The forecast isn’t great and there are reports of flooding... I hope this turns out ok!!!
Restarting from Villaviciosa on March 27th, myself and 2 sons (12 and 9) cycling slowly but hopefully quietly... (apologies in advance, they are very enthusiastic about ringing bells on their bikes when they see others ahead). I am hoping to get to Santiago by the 9th or 10th of April, the boys...
Hi, my sons (9,7) and I started the Camino del Norte, they had only gone on 10 km rides at home so I thought 20 km spread out over entire day was possible. We were able to do 25km without pressure, the only time that distance was difficult was on those days when we spent too much time at the...
Hi, I was on Camino del Norte end October 2015 and weather was unseasonably warm- we got to swim most days... returned October 2016 and weather not as warm but very pleasant. Looking to return in April, am expecting it to be more changeable than Autumn...
