Thanks for the good advice. I am doing the Portuguese Camino and decided to do a maximum of 20 kms a day, interspersed with 15-km days to try to avoid injuries but also to savor the beauty of the walk and the great gift of time to enjoy it
Hi, has anyone had any experience with downloadable maps of the Camino? I start my Camino on 13 July from Barcelos and was hoping to have the maps uploaded to my phone (the book I ordered never arrived!) And if I don’t have a map, is the route marked well enough that I won’t get lost?

Agreed! I also call on the police to start monitoring the Camino, even using under cover female police officers. If previous incidents have been reported, then the Camino portion should be monitored.
So disturbing. I experienced this in Portugal before but hoped it was an anomaly. Were the police helpful? If they warned you in advance does that mean they knew about it but didn’t do anything? I will get bear spray before starting, and thank you for the warning.
