Sorry that this happened to you.
I am an avid biker, but bikes on the camino are a bad idea.
I cannot imagine the audacity of ringing a bell or honking a horn and expecting a pedestrian to get out of my way.
There are plenty of quiet back roads and farm roads that bikers could use to make...
People who wear big or noticeable headphones might not be listening to anything at all. On an airplane or on a walk, it often signals the same thing: "not interested in conversation right now".
Not wearing headphones so that bicyclers can be heard is about as strange as saying that the deaf...
I've never liked Martin Sheen, so it is remarkable that I still like The Way. It is among a very few movies that I have in my library. I host international travelers in my home. Most are surprised at my question.
(If I show a movie that I think is worthwhile, the after-conversations are...
I've always been a poor speller. So I understand when I see a B where a V should be, or bisa bursa. When correctly speaking Spanish (and depending on where you are) the sounds of B and V are often the same... very soft.
I say yes to the spork. Almost all my mid day meals were sourced at grocery stores and eaten someplace nice, along the trail... like a picnic.
Please! Do not be the thoughtless type who uses disposable cutlery.
Even better, I have a knife, fork, and spoon that I bought at REI. I think they...

Plenty.
When traveling, I always stay in hostels. Each is unique but in general, the albergue environment is similar all over the planet.
I think many pilgrims off the camino who would not consider a hostel in their other travels. Too bad about that. Such lodging can be just a rewarding on...
I have had a bike and used one for almost 70 years. I am pro-bike and I every year I host many long distance bikers at my home (via Warm Showers).
I am anti-bike on the camino or any trail designed for walkers. I consider it an imposition to step aside for a bike.
The same mentality as those...
Well said.
Yes, context is everything. So many poorly asked questions with non-sensical answers from people who "just wanna post".
(This is not a comment on the quality of Bob's question, but he has indeed gotten some worthless answers.)
I think it would be. The coastal route through Portugal interests me, but I have a significant investment in the Frances and I hope to continue/finish that next year.
Thanks for the good information and suggestion.
My first two days out of France were similar to yours, except more wet!
I enjoyed reading your blog posts but "My shoes and sticks are well worn," ...how did that happen?
Peace out, Gurl Scout.
