    A stroke and the Camino

Hi I can appreciate your concerns and everyone is different. In my case I had a stroke in 2017 and then 2 months later another 2 strokes. Fortunately I got away with loss of vision on the lefthand side, I get tired and in the early stages after the stroke I got anxious, I was then 70 and the...

Anybody out there doing a Camino with A Fib?

I agree go before you are told you can't go. I had 3 strokes at 70 and it was found that I had atrial fribulation. With a mis spent youth that has caused a knee revision and a lumbar spine problem I decided it was time to take control. If I am lucky I do 15 km a day, it is your camino do...

Pilgrimage Lessons from the Camino de Santiago

I loved it, many thanks for such a beautiful piece of work. One thing I learnt on the camino is anything is possible, especially with good friends.

    Vision and eyeglasses while walking

This is a really good thread and one that I haven't really given a lot of thought to. I have worn varifocals for some while and the necessity to look up and down hasn't really bothered me. But after 3 strokes close together I lost peripheral vision on one side and changes in light conditions...

    Connect with the Camino

I'm not sure what you mean do you mean what is the name of the Jigsaw app? I'm a bit new to this social media vehicle I come from the era where we had to get the battery charged up at the cycle shop for the radio!

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD Introverts and Extroverts in the time of COVID

Probably introvert unless alcohol is involved haha! Thank goodness for the internet during these restricted times. At the moment we can go for a walk keeping at least 2 metres apart but I think on the horizon I can see that going out of the window (excuse the pun). For those looking for...

    Connect with the Camino

Apologises if this is in the wrong place but during these troubled times many of us are trying to connect with the Camino whilst in lockdown. Thinking of something to do I have stumbled across a jigsaw app that allows you to upload your photos to create jigsaws. You can adjust the settings to...

    Walking after knee replacement

Hi, yes it is possible but you might have to re adjust the daily distances and if it swells there is plenty of ice in the bars haha. Last year I did the Portuguese route with a replacement knee and a revision 15km/day. Take it easy you will be fine.

    5-10km/day pilgrims

Hi peregrino I sympathize with you ive got a rebuild on 2 knees a shoulder, back and a foot (mis spent youth haha) Last year I did the Portuguese route averaging 15 km with plenty of bar stops for ice to cool the joints. There is no shame in using a bus just listen to your body it will tell you...
