When will it cool down in Spain?

So just another degree or two and it will be perfect ;)

Hadrian's Wall Robin Hood's Tree Cut Down

Disgraceful. I hope the person responsible meets a similar fate.

When will it cool down in Spain?

    Really? Surely not that high?

Recommended Seville accommodation for first two nights?

It's fine - a bit of a tramp to the Giralda. In terms of where 'drug addicts hang out', I'm guessing you mean the tiny former red light district, which is to the south-west and which, thanks to local government efforts a few decades ago, today is barely in evidence and nothing to worry about.

    COVID Covid on the Camino

Covid was definitely on the Frances over Summer - I caught it, possibly in Belorado as the pilgrim in the next room was very ill all night and my symptoms hit me on the day I struggled into Hontanas. My symptoms were just mild and I was able to keep going over the two roughest days. Met a couple...

    Amount of euros

Agree. I carried about that too. No problems. Never short as a card did the trick as well.

Any updates on the new camino route out of Lisbon?

Interesting to read this and thanks for the update. I thought the original track from Sacavem was already fine. It was all the road walking later on that was dangerous. Anyway, Buen Caminho!

Certificate in Sahagún - halfway on Camino Frances, completion of Camino de Madrid

Very easy to pick one up. Exactly as is written above. Totally unnecessary though and I noticed the extra space the tube took up in my backpack for the rest of my Camino. The museum, is really quirky and some of the books in the library are most curious. I spent an hour just looking at all the...

Request for pics of menus on CF!

I recommend a good cocido, either in Leon or Astorga. Not spicy, but certainly very filling.

    Cats on the Camino

This Camino, like others, there were a couple of times when a cat came begging in the middle of nowhere. Who could possibly resist the desperate 'meow' of a hungry cat? I kept a couple of tins of mejillones in my backpack and used the card box the tins were in as the tray to empty the tin on. I...

    Changes to the Camino

Absolutely right. Nobody pays for Mass with the Botafumeiro as nobody knows if it will swing, unless told by someone in the group who paid for it. The Botafumeiro swung at the 12 o' clock Mass today. Thanks to the large group of uniformed Jaen pilgrims, who also shared their lovely Camino story...

    Stay in St Jean

In terms of hotels, I haven't stayed at either of those two, but at a similar price point, I would recommend Villa Esponda as the rooms are excellent with good air-con. Pushing the price point a little more, the Pyrenees Hotel is a comfortable option.

Count down! 28 "sleeps", then Spain!

Great to hear from you, Marska. I've just arrived in SdC and it was mostly a wonderful Camino (apart from getting Covid for some days on the Meseta and realizing I was way less fit than I thought over the first 3 weeks). Just really try to get as much walking in as possible before you get here...

Heat Wave warning France, August 2023

Wore my wind jacket for only the second time today. The walk into SdC was suddenly surprisingly nippy mid morning today, despite a very warm sweaty early morning eucalyptus walk to Amenal and up to the airport. The sudden drop in temperature from the now acclimatized warm humid early morning to...

    Templiers/Hospitaliers wrt the CdS pilgrimage?

@Crosbie, having read your latest posts I think you do really believe in much of what you're saying. Jim Jones followers fully believed in him too. I get it that you're seeking, trying to find understanding, searching for meaning, reading the ramblings of marginal authors and feeling that you...

It will be warm. Stay safe pilgrims!

This is so true. I was soaked in sweat and the sun cream I had applied was turning to a froth when walking today. It was like walking around Panama City, only a bit warmer towards the stage end.

It will be warm. Stay safe pilgrims!

It was a random pick from the menu in Ezequiel. The pig's ear there is very good indeed and even better than it was in the 2 cocido lunches I had had in Leon and Astorga.

It will be warm. Stay safe pilgrims!

It's a lovely 38 degrees in Melide this afternoon, just right for a glass of wine with pulpo, pimientos and pig's ear.
