A 2700 mile Pilgrimage to more than 200 Shrines in the Alps

Hi donjohannes. I’m not a native English speaker, so take it with a pinch of salt, but need to say I enjoyed the read. I found it captivating and also loved the pictures. Best wishes.

Need cash.....Any canadians in or near sarria tomorrow?

Absolutely. Need (pleased) to know and hoping things go well.

    Camino Frances a Second Time

Some mentioned above very accurately. No use in comparing previous experiences, I made that mistake though. :) No camino like the first one, there’s not like the second, third or the tenth one either. You’ll enjoy all of them differently, I believe it doesn't necessarily mean in a lower degree...

What does the 'spirit of the camino' mean to you?

I guess it depends on what you’re searching for. If looking for solitude and reflection it may mean open wide spaces that would provide you the opportunity to be with your inner self. In contrast, if your bet is the social side of the route, it could be the company and camaraderie of your...

A short (7-10 day) Camino over Christmas - which route/section?

Good bet and terrifically envious of you WestKirsty. :) I assume you know that from Haro to Santo Domingo runs the vasco interior to meet up with the frances. Buen and joyful camino.

A short (7-10 day) Camino over Christmas - which route/section?

Meseta came to mind when I first read your thread on a Christmas walk. I’ve just walked once during Christmas time, and it had a nice and unique touch. It definitely will have its charm whatever the path you take.

Finisterre the end of the way for me,for now

Congrats roamingpaddy. You finally made it to the end of the world! I’ve been enjoying all your posts over the last days, and assume those last stages have been demanding enough. Time to relax and look back with fondness.

    Hello!

Hi Nikolaus. Know little about those paths. What are facilities on both routes like? I mean accomodation, hostels… also, and at the risk of imposing on your kindness :), I’d like to know how busy they are in terms of people walking them. Your projects sound great, and wish you the best. 💪

What did you love best about walking la Plata?

Lovely. It is as boring and captivating as the well known meseta is. Open spaces provoking quiet and inspiring times that let you switch off from reality and break away. Something in between from the busy frances or the portuguese to those other lesser trodden paths like mozarabe, lana or catalan.

OBSOLETE COVID THREAD A song for our times...

Great or tiny, every step you make on the camino is forward. Not good at arranging lyrics though. :)

Who goes Camino del Norte now?

Hi @Kateline , from your words I understand you just met another pilgrim yesterday in San Sebastian and wonder approx. which the current figures on the Norte could be. I think it was last sunday I read from another forum member that posted he had already seen a couple of groups walking through...

LIVE from the Camino First pilgrims

Good to know what the current situation on the Camino Norte is like, and grateful for letting us know about it. It sounds good news and seems as if it’s somewhat getting back to normal. Let’s be positive and hope there’s no setback waiting for us just round the corner. Pleased if you keep us...

    Lets Build an Albergue!

An interesting point. Depending on what I'm lookin for sometimes I lean toward those albergues that need you to be in fairly early in the evening, other times, as you also point out, I prefer not to be constrained by a curfew. Fortunately, I’ve often had the chance to choose between them, as I...

Armchair tasting tour of Spanish wine

My brother invited me yesterday for lunch and showed me a Monjardin red wine he had been recommended by the owner of a winery he visits quite often. Fruity, tasty and, oddly enough, unexpectedly familiar. :) I forgot to take a picture, but have found it on its site.

Detailed planning for the Camino Sanabres, March-April 2020

Great idea to take that ride to Monforte, a nice town and just a stone’s throw away from Orense. A local told me that it was a shame but due to railway issues this days the town had fallen somewhat into decay. Apparently prior to that fact it used to be even a livelier town. Anyway, nice place...

Detailed planning for the Camino Sanabres, March-April 2020

I have been checking a bit about your region in Western Australia, as I just knew very little about it, just Perth, and envious of what appears to be a nice and somewhat unspoilt area on the seaside. Take care of yourselves.

Detailed planning for the Camino Sanabres, March-April 2020

I don’t hope so. 😲 🐺 Surely our brave and virtual pilgrim is having some rest to gain the necessary strength to tackle the final stretch of the sanabres. Anyway, you’re right, as we are looking forward to knowing any further on this lovely adventure. ❤
