I used Brooks Caldera on the CF this spring and another 100 km on the Portuguese! 900 km in total and there is still a little bit of tread. The textile at the heel has worn out. Loved the shoes, loads of cushion, roomy toebox, very stabile.

I walked the same route last year leaving also on March 29! I didn’t bring a rainpant. But brought a poncho, Altus and a very light rain jacket. I was lucky I wore it only once.
Look at the ultralight options like MLD, Bonfus etc. For example Bonfus, 38 liter 330 gr. There is even a smaller 28 liter and also lighter. Very good materials. Those backpacks do get very good reviews. I’ll take the 48 let Saccus on my CF.
