Something importrant which I know nothing about!
Most GPS software lets you track a person if they set you up as a buddy with authorisation to follow them. You can always turn off the GPS or buddy beacon facility if you want to go off grid. Also most GPS need to have line of sight to around 5 satellites, some steep sided valleys or gorges...- Jim_Hyde

Is there any elitism between pilgrims taking different routes?
Everyone who walks has different reasons, abilities, constraints, aspirations, a camino is a physical, mental and to some a spiritual journey, it is not a race or competition. Some folks just really don't get it ....
I've walked alone and with friends for around 40 years the best trips are to either walk solo all day and meet up at the end of the day and enjoy a few drinks and a meal or go solo and meet new friends on the trail and share a meal and a few drinks. Can I carry a penknife or nail scissors on Ryanair?
Pay for a bag in the hold, it's not that expensive compared to the whole trip, you can then pack walking poles, penknives, corkscrews or anything else without the stress and worry if you will get through security.- Jim_Hyde

Cows
Dairy cows are used to people as they get milked twice a day, mothers with calves can be protective so give them a wide berth and don't get between a mother and calf. Young bullocks can also be a problem so also give them a wide berth and never corner them where they don't have an escape route...- Jim_Hyde
