LIVE from the Camino The meseta, it's beautiful!

I finished last week and absolutely loved the Meseta. A very special part of the whole journey

LIVE from the Camino The camino provides. Today it provided mud!

I finished the France's last Thursday and have got lots of the 'mud' photos too. However, after I broke my foot just before O'Cebreiro I was grateful for it, much softer than the alternative - rocks! Those next few days up and down were painful.

Oh no, I think I trained too hard!

I leave tomorrow and had a cortisone injection in my knee for a niggling ITB on Thursday, my husband calls it my 'performance enhancing drug"!

Judy, I have a Scrubba also and figure it is just a slightly heavier dry bag when not being used to do laundry

    Walking early April

Hi Ali, I am starting on the 13th. I don't know how accurate it is but the following website provides a long range forecast which might help; http://www.accuweather.com/en/es/roncesvalles/306085/april-weather/306085?monyr=4/1/2016

Pretty good, I think I'm ready. Mind you, those pics of the snow in Roncesvalles in the Pilgrim in Shorts thread had me running out to buy some good gloves and reassess my clothes! I think I'm okay, I've got layers and figure if I need to I'll just put them all on. I lived in New Zealand for...

    April /May/June 2016 Peregrinos - Camino Frances

Hi Susan, I have seen several posts saying the same thing. Yes, I have got a booking but I made it back in Nov/Dec, initially for April 14 but requested to change it to April 13 about 5-6 weeks ago. I had a fairly quick reply confirming that it was okay to change. I am wondering if they may...

    April /May/June 2016 Peregrinos - Camino Frances

Oh, I feel your pain! I too, have been very active, don't run any more due to arthritis but do long walks and have been taking my pack. No problems until about 5 weeks ago when my knee started playing up. I had ITB surgery about 15 years ago (when I used to run) and its the same issue with the...

    Crocs or sandals?

I am taking my boots , which I love, and a pair of Ahnu Tilden sandals for nights and as an alternative to walk in if necessary. Even though the Ahnu's can be worn in the shower I don't really fancy wearing wet sandals so I have ordered some 'Spa flip flops' - super light, super compact and...

Ladies Choice: What shoes did you wear & pro's/cons

Hi Careen, I recently bought Salomon Speedcross shoes and frankly I don't think they would last a quarter of the distance. I took mine back to the store after about five weeks with the central lugs worn down about half of their depth. I don't think I would have got more than three months out...

My son spent many years rowing and methylated spirits was used on their hands for blister prevention. And, they also poured it onto their open blisters! Arrrgh!! I'm with @jppreston, Trail Toes for me

camino Frances from SJPDP April 8 2016

I made my reservation for Orrison early in Dec for April 14. There were no problems, just took a bit of time to get a response. I contacted them five days ago to change to April 13 and they responded saying that was okay. No mention of possibly not being open?? I have wondered what happens in...
