Still waiting for our government (Australia) to allow us to leave and head out. We're pretty much still on lock downs every now and again as new people get infected.
Hoping to get back for my 6th or 7th Camino Frances - can't remember how many any more.
Hoping you have an incredible time. Best...
There are buses from St Jean to Roncesvalles, Zubiri or Pamplona. So, in reality, you can always start at St Jean and get to a location that is much easier to walk by catching a single bus or two and the buses are very cheap.
Roncesvalles is a great place to start but only if you are prepared to walk down steep loose shale that can cut you to pieces on the descent into Zubiri. I saw a number of people with quite horrible cuts in their calves, shins, and other parts of their bodies who had obviously fallen. Sticks are...
I have 'done' the Camino both ways - once with my daughter and twice by myself.
Did a test run Sarria to Santiago by myself, then with my daughter, and then Burgos to Santiago alone. If was wonderful to share the experience with my daughter it was very different but wonderful as well.

August is a great time to walk the CF. If you can give yourself a bit more time than a single month you'll probably enjoy it more but please don't worry about getting home in an emergency as it is easy to get to Pamplona, Burgos, Leon or Santiago by bus from almost any of the towns/villages...

Enjoy and Ben Camino Liddybee.
Hi John Pa. I felt much the same when I did my first mini-Frances (Sarria to Santiago) because the whole deal was an unknown for me even though I had watched a number of documentaries on YouTube.
Then last year I walked from SJPdP to Castrojeriz (320+ kms) and a few other short legs until I got...
If you are taking an Android device with you I'd suggest you check out https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.moemke.android.mycamino&hl=en
The app is free to download and I strongly suggest you download the maps (you can use google maps but that will use up your download).
You can...
You'll love it. It has been one of the most amazing adventures I've ever had and there are also so many opportunities for self-growth and increasing self-awareness than I have ever encountered anywhere.
I will be ahead of you - starting SJPdP on the 4th. I hope we don't meet up because that means I'm way to lazy or am enjoying myself far too much. :)
Buen Camino.
