    Walking with large family

Well done! It would be great to hear a more detailed account of your journey. I bet you did find it quite warm! How did all the accommodation work out?

Need current information on the Camino Ingles

Yes my favourite! When we lived in the UK it was very difficult to find, now living in Spain I am spoilt for choice - as sadly we are probably leaving in Summer, I am beginning to stockpile! If you want a delicious red try Rectoral de Amandi from the Ribeira Sacra region. For food obviously...

Need current information on the Camino Ingles

Hi Sophie! @Altheoptimist is quite correct we did walk over Easter and this is probably the reason why the Albergues were full. We arrived in Santiago on Easter Monday and it was quite noticeable how quiet it was as all the (mainly Spanish) pilgrims who had been dashing to get there for the...

    I'm off on another camino

Have a good pilgrimage and wrap up well. We walked during Holy Week and went from suffering heat exhaustion to nearly being drowned by the rain and blown over by the wind - such are the joys of Galicia! Buen Camino!

    Bar with food in Bruma

I am not sure if this has been mentioned on here but there is a Bar in Bruma which serves food. It is called the Casa Grana and is between the Albergue and church at the end of the village on the left hand side of the Camino. It is not mentioned in the current edition of JW's guide so came as a...

New stop/place to stay between Betanzos and Bruma

This place appeared as if a 'mirage' on our Camino during Holy Week! On this particular day it was so hot (I later suffered from terrible heat exhaustion after foolishly not bringing a hat!) and we were in desperate need of cold fizzy drink! It is not mentioned in JW's guide so it came as a...

    Average walking speed

Thankfully it did not rain that day until we were a few hundred metres from the Hotel San Vicente - that path seemed to go on forever!!

1st Camino - advice on day lengths please!

Are you planning to stay in Hotel or Albergues? It was not that cold in the evening unless you have been walking in the wind and rain all day and can't get your things dry!! I am afraid I am not the best person to ask regarding clothing etc. I stupidly walked in brand new boots bought the day...

1st Camino - advice on day lengths please!

I am with everyone else, just stick with the Ferrol to Santiago way. We returned last week - It took us 9 days but we took our two children and both my wife and I are a little too much top heavy!! Be also prepared for some pretty nasty weather, which may slow you down. For about 5 days of our...

    Walking with large family

Forgot to mention but at Ferrol we stayed at the Hotel Suizo, with interconnecting rooms. From there it is just a walked down the hill to the starting point - well it should of been - we decided to find a bread shop for supplies for the day ahead and got completely lost! As we are English and...

    Average walking speed

Easy yes, but not much fun in the torrential rain and storm force winds which we experienced that day. The man from Meson do Vento did offer to take us to the actual Camino, I stupidly refused!!

    Average walking speed

Thank you! We had to 'sleep' on the floor simply as when we arrived there were no beds left! The Camino was very busy as it was Holy Week and many people were trying to get to Santiago for Easter Sunday.

    Average walking speed

Haha, well we did it (even after getting no sleep, lying on the floor of the Pontedeume Albergue!), admittedly we did have to stop a few times and admire the view, thankfully however we did not have to trouble the ambulance service!

    Photo book to recommend?

Hi - how did it all go? We took plenty of photo's - many though featured us in them! Are you on Facebook? You could see them there!

    Walking with large family

(That was us!) We booked the hotels as we went along using Booking.com. We booked triple rooms. We then either had to squash together or an extra bed was put in the room. The Hotel San Vicente gave us an extra twin bedroom for no extra cost which was kind of them.

    Walking with large family

So we completed our pilgrimage last Monday! We live in Alicante so flew from there to Santiago. Then we took a taxi (standard cost 21 Euros) to get to the bus station. Then we caught a bus to Ferrol. This is the breakdown of our stages. Day 1: Ferrol (make sure you find out the way down to...

    That would be us then!!

    Pilgrim staffs in Ferrol

Just an update! Although we found a Chinese shop in Ferrol they only sold plastic broom handles. Never fear however as in the next few days we found our own staffs along the many wooded areas of the Camino. They really helped us through the steep sections! At the end of our pilgrimage we said...

507 pilgrims on the Inglés in March?

Wow - that was certainly not our experience!

507 pilgrims on the Inglés in March?

Hi, we have just returned from walking the Ingles during Holy Week and confirm that it was very busy! Mainly young Spanish but also a few families. Most it seems were trying to reach Santiago for Easter Sunday. Fortunately we were in no such rush and arrived at the cathedral on the Monday. We...
