I used a trucker hat this past Frances...it vents well...looks normal-ish...but that’s it.
At the end of it all, my neck had a racing stripe tan/sunburn from the bandana I used to soak and tie around my neck, and my ears were chicharrones.
I’m bringing my Shelta Seahawk hat this time around...
I use the same camera for travel, and use the capture clip V3 on my shoulder strap. I find the location to be highly intuitive and provide the best spacial awareness when hiking with respects to keeping the camera accessible and safe. I keep either a wrist strap or neck strap attached to my pack...
For myself, I prefer choice number two. There’s a lot of literature out there on this topic, and tend to agree with what’s been said given my own experiences.
YMMV
I was 6 days behind you last year, and the only day of real rain I had was coming into Pamplona, I personally can’t deal with ponchos (the fit and it’s end of life is something I struggle with; from cradle to grave) and prefer a jacket with pit vents to dump heat. I was dry and didnt overheat...
I’ll be in the Norte this summer with the Speedgoat 3’s but did consider the Challenger ATR 5, you may want to look at them (Challenger) if you’re planning on a bit more pavement walking. I tried them on at REI and they felt close to general running shoes with a thicker midsole, the lug pattern...
Are you referring to the hardness of the lugs? If so there are some trail runners with harder lugs due to the rubber compound used for specific terrains & conditions or are you looking for a rigid platform?
For example, I just purchased some HOO Speedgoat 3's and it lugs are softer than say...
I would recommend against it, and don’t subscribe to the absolute notion that it’s this holy grail material. Merino is great as a travel material where high contact/abrasions is not in the picture, layering, it has its place and specific climate where it out performs.
You’ll discover they...
IMO it’s not needed, nor gaiters for that matter. The trail is groomed, on the Dragonte there were prickly’s but it’s such a short hike that even if you decide to do it, it doesn’t warrant the extra unneeded weight.
Your not going to be hiking, I should say walking, in a damp wet environment...

This was my primary method of charging my iPhone 8plus, good compromise in weight(6.98oz), safety (would charge the battery rather than the phone at albergues), and time (quick charging & multiple charges depending on device and...
Ive used Dr Bronners which leaves my feeling dry, S2S Wilderness Wash with slightly does the same... Ive also been on the hunt for an alternative as well. Outside Online just posted some great eco friendly, biodegradable, options...
Let preface this first by saying, on my last CF, all I used was my iPhone 8 Plus and got good image results.
With that said, I wanted the focus to be on the experience rather than capturing the moment; however, this summer, I do plan to bring a Lumix GX85 with 2 lenses and possibly a gimbal...
