    Hokas with wet grip?

Absolutely love my Speedgoats also-like walking in slippers. The gortex version does not allow sand in.

Things I'd bring, who cares about the weight

They make small stuff sacks that double as a pillow-stuff some clothes in and voila!

    Let's talk waist packs!

I absolutely "get" the utility of these packs but I always come back to the thought that wearing one screams to nefarious types, "here is where my good stuff is" . So far I have resisted getting one.

Is this a new type of shoe? “Hybrid hiker”

Hoka Speed Goats here-not interested in fashion, just function lol

    Using a waterproof backpack?

I neglected to write that my backpack (Hyperlite ultralight) is made of Dyneema fiber which is touted to be very light and waterproof. Respectfully, regarding "waterproofing", I never trust just one system protecting my possessions hence the "compacter" bag insurance mentioned before.

A Water Bottle Holder For Backpacks.

Didn't get the water bottle holder but did go the website and ordered their shoulder strap pocket. Thanks for the heads-up.

Rain protection - ( Overkill ? or cut back to save some weight?)

Ditto: Even though my backpack states it is waterproof, I also throw in a plastic compactor trash bag so no worries-everything in the pack is in it. I don't carry anything on the outside that cannot tolerate the rain. It worked on the Long Trail and the Appalachian Trail also. Can't beat it.

    Why oh why, why, why.....

Many pull tabs but mostly they have tops to fit the "no sharp edges" type crank openers

    Why oh why, why, why.....

I have stopped bothering with the P38 as most cans don't have the lip on them any longer. Great little opener.

    Credential

When you say full, I assume you have had stamps on the maps on the back. Worked for me.

    Using a waterproof backpack?

Plus one on the compactor bag-perfect and inexpensive, light and it works.
