    Which Camino?

I walked in July 2015.It was great. Yes it's hot and I'm northern European but it's beautiful. Really, there were only a couple of days where water was an issue. Again, the solitude was wonderful and the locals were very welcoming of the foreign fool. Most of the villages in Andalucia/...

    Which Camino?

Don't be put off the VDLP because of he heat. Spain in August is hot everywhere and the solitude of the route is very spiritual

LIVE from the Camino Buy earplugs if the snoring annoys you...

It's a foregone conclusion. Sleep in albergues...people snore. Simple...unavoidable. What is absolutely avoidable is packing your pack in the morning and thinking you are quiet. You're not! It is impossible to put plastic bags into a backpack silently..IMPOSSIBLE.Take the bag out of the dorm...

    Pilgrim shame

I'd certainly not judge someone Kanga. I would however like to understand someones motivation for taking a taxi if they were fit enough to walk

    Pilgrim shame

Very nearly got a taxi last summer from El Ganso to Rabanal.I was in pure agony and was concerned about continuing. I mentioned it to a Dutch pilgrim who I'd met in Hospital de Obrigo. He convinced me to carry on walking. He said that he would walk me and phone a taxi if I felt I couldn't carry...

    Pilgrim shame

Last summer I saw a fella get out of a taxi at the 100km marker. He then got a stamp at the next café. Jumped back in a taxi thereafter. I actually felt sorry for him but was genuinely puzzled as to the motivation

    Are you pilgrim or walker?

Can we be neither? Agree about the labels. Very tedious. There are more than enough prejudices in the world.
  9. AlanB

    What is your reason?

I had a young seagull family in my garden who weren't too happy with my presence. 5 weeks walking in Spain seemed a good idea

What is the most you have walked in a day?

To be honest Stephen, I get sore legs if I walk too slowly.I've racked up several thousand kms and couldn't imagine walking for less than 7 hours a day. That puts me over 30kms a day and I've always enjoyed myself. Granted i've not counted every poppy that I've passed

What is the most you have walked in a day?

Boimorta to Santiago 51km. Didn't plan to but the crowds after Arzua (end of July) freaked ne out a bit.Shortest was Valenca to Tui. Across a bridge and up a hill. Can't remember the distance but took 30 mins tops

Is this an old peoples walk ?

Try the Via de la Plata in July if you want a 'challenge'

    Taking a dog with you

It has been discussed before. I was in sync with a German lady who took her dog with her. She also took a tent. She had very few problems pitching the tent in the Albergue gardens or very nearby. The dog, a wee mongrel type, seemed to be having a rare old time. Can't say it would suit every pooch...

    Vegetarian food?

I walked a short time with a german girl who was vegan. Met up in SDC, she said that it had been fine. Fair play to her
