    Woman Traveling solo

A lot of albergues don't accept bags. I met a group of friends who had a group member with a bad injury, who couldn't carry a bag anymore. They'd sent that bag ahead to a place that they'd actually made a reservation and everything. But the owner got so mad at them for using a baggage transport...

    Woman Traveling solo

Definitely Gitlitz and Davidson, and it's available on Kindle, too, if you don't want to lug around a book.

    Walking with a group

They show up on Booking. Probably other places, too, but Booking might be easiest.

Best options for paying and getting cash in Spain as a US citizen

Well, I've done it before. I have no idea if ALL banks do it, but none of the ones I asked said no.

Best options for paying and getting cash in Spain as a US citizen

For the problem of having too many 50s, it’s possible to go into a bank (once you get to Spain) and ask them to break the 50s for you.

    Bed bugs in El Acebo!

Bed bugs can also lurk in seats at restaurants, buses, trains, etc. Also clothing stores. And your luggage can get them just from being stored with other luggage. They’re not just in beds.

    Walking with a group

Consider booking actual apartments if you have a group that size. They can end up cheaper even than albergues, and it’s easy to do laundry there, etc.

    Bed bugs in El Acebo!

Noooooooo! I stayed there a month or so ago and even took a rest day there because it was so wonderful and comfortable. Don’t ruin my memories! I do hope you let them know so they could address it.

Albergue idea - group snorers together, away from non-snorers

When I did the Camino in 2001, there was an albergue that had a snorers’ room. Right outside of Pamplona.

A Wholesome attitude to being on Camino ...

Finished the Invierno recently, and I agree.

    Toilet paper on the camino

I’m on the Invierno now, and I haven’t seen one single piece of toilet paper. Of course, I also go days without seeing anyone else on the trail at all … I’m using a kula cloth, and it’s working out great. One of the good things about this Camino is that there’s no shortage of places you can...

    The culture has changed...sadly

I’m on the Camino now and am also thinking about them. Horrible shoes, no hot showers, and no sunblock. They must have just worn long everything and a hat. No yellow arrows, either. On the other hand, in a lot of places, the route they took was much easier than what we do now. They would have...

    Bed bugs

That doesn’t sound like bed bugs. The itching can be awful, but usually lasts just a couple unbearable weeks.

    Booking.com prices vs. Gronze

The contact info is on Gronze.

LIVE from the Camino Last Day Walking Blues

I just want to offer a counter-suggestion to those advising that you start planning your next Camino. I’d say to do some deep reflection and journaling (or whatever it is that you do to help yourself reflect) and what you’ve received from this time and how you want to implement whatever lessons...

    Specific items?

When I lived in Madrid, you could get peanut butter in larger grocery stores, but it was found in the section with kids’ snack foods.

Easy ways to share Camino updates with family?

I’m using Polarsteps and loving it. Both for keeping people informed and for me, to reflect on and record the day.

Buying a SIM card in Madrid

In Madrid now, bought a sim today. I wanted one with a Spanish number, although you can get by pretty well with just data. I got an esim at Orange today (no need to remove my own sim and make sure I don't lose it because phone allows both). I will be in Spain after the Camino, too. This one was...
