    Thanks, Mary … will gladly share this with my vegan wife - I still eat eggs and that's about it. We are leaving for LePuy in 27 days and hoping the French are as accommodating since we've heard the food quality on St Jaques is even better than Espana. Bon Chamin!

    It56: 3k or 4k after Sarria is Barbadelo, a spread out community that has lodging. Serves 2 purposes ... 1 is you do not spend the night in Sarria and 2 is you now have a head start from the masses in the morning. Just an idea which has worked well for me twice.

    I'm no Saint - not even close, but twice my wife & I have carried bags and collected litter over a 5km section. That's all it took to fill them. This world has extremes, and sometimes it's best to at least try to level the field.

    Thanks, LG for this very appropriate quote. I know when I'm saddened to leave a journey it has affected me. The Camino has this feeling - as well as being on safari in Africa (we're animal people). So, in 2019 we will take heart with our plans!

    Most of the 'pilgrims meals' give you choices. Soups (probaby with broth base?), salads, and potatoes are available along with meat dishes. You could order a custom meal, but might take a while and not sure of cost. You can get sandwiches, just order without the ham - we ask for extra tomatoe...
