Lholo: 6 months ago i would have said you might be mistaken. Now, after 2 of my own 'beyond circumstances' events and some crazy things going on at my wife's deceased parents home I'm a believer. 2 great books ... The Boy Who Knew Too Much and Many Lives Many Masters. Also, Nexflix Surviving...
You're probably not alone with many of your thoughts. I'm also 67 and like you, keep seeing the goal posts continually moved a little further away each month and wonder how many good years I have left. The advice that I keep hearing is: Live in the moment and take advantage of what is...
I'd like to share a photo or two but seems my files are too big. What is the limit in size? OR is there another way to share them here?
I email my photos to myself on 'large' size of about 800k, then add to my gallery for selection. Do not use original size which for me is about 6mb and way...
Thanks, these are really nice.
I would suggest you post a few in the Photos section for those who may miss this post? Sad to think, for those of us in the U.S. this is as good as we will see our Caminos till whenever ....
Side note: Not to rub it in, but Pogacar also wears the White and Poka Dot Jerseys for best Young Rider and King of the Mountains. 3 out of 4 winning jerseys. Now, if he could only sprint!? 😃
Thanks, Mary … will gladly share this with my vegan wife - I still eat eggs and that's about it. We are leaving for LePuy in 27 days and hoping the French are as accommodating since we've heard the food quality on St Jaques is even better than Espana. Bon Chamin!
It56: 3k or 4k after Sarria is Barbadelo, a spread out community that has lodging. Serves 2 purposes ... 1 is you do not spend the night in Sarria and 2 is you now have a head start from the masses in the morning. Just an idea which has worked well for me twice.
I'm no Saint - not even close, but twice my wife & I have carried bags and collected litter over a 5km section. That's all it took to fill them. This world has extremes, and sometimes it's best to at least try to level the field.
Not to mention being able to understand from 25 to 50 words - mine mine are especially good with words like food, breakfast, walk, beach, bed, and the list goes on ....
I agree with 'rector' above. What should the staff have done, dragged the insulting old guy down the isle? That got tried in the U.S. and it didn't work out so well! Watching a crazy event on-line is a lot easier than being in the middle of one first-hand. Ask any first responder ....
Thanks, LG for this very appropriate quote. I know when I'm saddened to leave a journey it has affected me. The Camino has this feeling - as well as being on safari in Africa (we're animal people). So, in 2019 we will take heart with our plans!
Most of the 'pilgrims meals' give you choices. Soups (probaby with broth base?), salads, and potatoes are available along with meat dishes. You could order a custom meal, but might take a while and not sure of cost. You can get sandwiches, just order without the ham - we ask for extra tomatoe...
Much like Morgan above, I didn't want to store the Compostela at my house the rest of my life! So, after my wife obtained hers, I received the final Pilgims Office Sello, and gave them a nice donation. A win-win.
The Passports are in a document file with the other real US Passports - nice...
