I am sorry as a pilgrim,and someone who lives very close to the Camino,I would hate to see widespread camping. I believe no matter how discreet the campsites maybe, they would detract from the countryside and create a mess

I so agree, the achievement and experience is so much more important, my Spanish Brother in Law, always wanted to do León to Santiago in his elderly SEAT 600d, sadly he died last November without realising his wish
Collecting sellos, is great fun more important to me than the compostela, done three caminos, and none ended up in Santiagoso no compostela, although I have got the San Salvador

Normally this is probably the best time to do caminos as it is not too hot, however there still could be snow on the higher parts,I have always walked towards the end of April, and have never encountered bad weather
