Is it okay to want to walk the Frances alone?

Walking solo or not depends on the state of mind of each and every peregrino. For those desiring solitude walking alone would be the perfect way to accomplish it. For those who might like to rekindle their relationships walking with another person might be the perfect solution. During one of...

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2021?

As we're in the mid-point of the cherry blossom season in NJ, I'm reminded of Matsuo Basho's haiku which makes my daily walks in my neighborhood and local parks enchanting & contemplative: How many, many things They call to mind These cherry-blossoms! (Samazama no/koto omoidasu/sakura...

How Do You End Your Camino

Very practical observation. Yes history (including modern day) is strewn with examples of the toxic mix of religion and politics & its consequences.

How Do You End Your Camino

Very evocative Mspath. That the Cathedral should be using St. James as a symbol of Matamoros or Moor slayer is very surprising. I presume it grew out of a legend the saint helped a 9th-century Spanish king massacre 60,000 Moors in a battle. Should this imaginary association of James have any...

Preparing physically to walk the Camino

Very well made point which I was trying to articulate. I think some of the above responses meant to say "economically developed" instead of "civilised."

Preparing physically to walk the Camino

Perhaps I live in a different world. But hearing the word "civilised" in such a casual manner in this day and age sounds so weird. Using the phrase in the context of a story around Oxaca, Mexico seems especially strange.

Preparing physically to walk the Camino

    What was your meltdown point?

Hopefully you're right. Nonetheless I shudder to think that given the trauma that they went through at this small scale event, what their counterparts might be experiencing on much bigger occasions. It's really puzzling to think how one could derive pleasure/enjoyment from the suffering of...

    What was your meltdown point?

    Very thoughtful responses. Many thanks.

    What was your meltdown point?

I both experienced close to what you might call a meltdown as well as an epiphany. Three years ago, my peregrino friend and I reached Los Arcos after a day’s walk from Estella. While strolling around the center of town, we suddenly found ourselves to be fenced in. Upon enquiring what was up we...
