I'm glad I did sort it out before I left, It seems to be a problem between Google Pay, the app and my phone but you'll probably be okay as you don't have my awkward phone. I had to download it then pay for the full version via my laptop as Google Pay won't recognise my password on my phone, yet...- John Cook

To be on the safe side, I would download the app before you leave home. I tried to use it in Spain this year, for the VdlP and it wouldn't let me. Francés vs Via de la Plata vs Camino de madrid
When I walked the VdlP in April/May this year I didn't meet an English speaking local after Sevilla until I reached Salamanca. At least you won't get corrected 😀! A Camino drink I've enjoyed on previous Caminos was hot chocolate and Jack Daniels with my breakfast. I was never corrected with that drink 😋.- John Cook

I tried that on the Norte last year; huge mistake! I'm fairly new to hot drinks and coffee in particular but I've discovered I like black coffee. Don't speak the language?
I'm currently on the VdlP, about 300kms in and since leaving Sevilla, I haven't met one local who speaks English. Route markers on routes other than Frances?
I walked the Norte this year and did have a few issues with the waymarking, however I didn't always stick to the 'official' route.
