Is it okay to want to walk the Frances alone?

Selfish? no way, just smart... if I ever am able to walk the Camino again(I refuse to get the jab), I will be more than willing to "travel to/from" the Camino with 1 or more people, but the walking part is much best being solo(ish). With the knowledge that we would most certainly be bumping...

Why do my feet hurt? Metatarsal tales

You sparked a memory... I had a strange pain in both feet for the last 3/4 of the Camino... It was in the back area of both heels. It didn't bother me during the day, just at night, got so bad that I had to put something under the lower legs to lift my feet (heels) from pressing on the bed...

    Training on a treadmill.

YES, I have a treadmill, and used it heavily in training for my Camino!!! It is AWESOME!!!

For me, The polls are a source for a fun trivia!

Poll Do you walk alone or together with others?

The first time, I walked it with a good friend, but next time I will walk it alone.

Poll How many km/miles per day do you use to walk in average?

Overall, We averaged about 13 miles per day between St jean pied de Port to Santiago. But that was with taking Sundays off (only walking 4 to 8 Miles on Sundays)(Usually to make sure we made it to a place to go to Sunday Mass)

Maintaining Blood Sugar...food on the trail

Yea I think you're absolutely correct... I was going off of some old(and obviously poor) memories when I used to do a lot of training/running... I just tried to google search that amount of time but failed. The true answer appears to be quite a variable. It depends on how much glycogen you...

Maintaining Blood Sugar...food on the trail

When you first start exercising/walking, your body is mostly burning glycogen... after the first half hour or so of walking, your body switches over to burning mostly fats. Therefore a snack such as nuts, cheese, etc will give you the absolutely best energy for each day. I almost always had...

When did it happen to you?

To me it was like Total freedom, Total relaxation, out there, not a worry to think about. "Consolation" I think is the word I'm trying to find... And it took me about a week or two to get there. Totally opposite of life back home....

Cathedral Closed...Is the Camino still worth it?

Wow a LOT OF replies!!! I'll (try to) make it short. I am also a devout Catholic. If it were me, I would go anyway, and just go again another time/year. My first Camino was a year ago. Ended at Santiago near end of April. There was construction then too. Construction/repairs whether on...

    Avoiding the breakfast trap?

My usual breakfast was a yogurt and an apple! Sometimes a boiled egg. ("Grocery store" eating). If I couldn't find my plastic spoon, I folded the foil lid into a makeshift spoon.

    Translation wanted!

My translater showed it as "shake" the toothpick... Maybe it's just saying to just relax after you get your meal (while you're cleaning your teeth with a toothpick)???

    That silly 10% rule

I broke the rule badly also, I weighed approx 180 lbs (82 k) when I left home March 13. Pack weighed 32 lbs. (15k) But it does contain a lot of "stones" with names on them. One big one and lots of smaller ones. Each one is a prayer. A sacrificial prayer. Some with names of people who I want to...

    Weather

I use Weatherspark for historical averages, but I use weatherunderground for 10 day forecast weather.
