    Outraged

Ha! I just found a video clip 🤢

    Outraged

I express it in my blog! I sympathise. I have been in this position many times. In my extensive camino experience I’ve found groups of men to be ignorant or maybe just uncaring of those around them. When I encounter one of a group alone they can be charm personified but when they number four...

Collecting a list of cash-machine / bank ATM fees in Spain

I haven’t read all the responses to this thread so apologies if this info already exists. I discovered last year via our friend Google that the only bank that doesn’t make a withdrawal charge in Spain for foreign cardholders is Deutsche Bank. And I found this to be true.

    Needing a livestock refresher course

Yes, the bull was stranded on the path with a field on one side - can’t remember what was on the other side. I’m guessing that the poor creature would have much preferred to be back in his field. We saw no one that we could report it to but I think that Aurelio may have made a phone call at some...

    Needing a livestock refresher course

Haha! This thread explains a mystery! I checked the stats on my blog yesterday and was flummoxed by the number of hits that particular bull related post had received. And again this morning. Most peculiar I thought. 🤔. And when I clicked on this thread all became clear. Marilyn, my camino...

    Snack Bars made of Oats

Peanut butter is freely available in Spain but it is very heavy to carry. I have taken peanut butter powder on camino. It is useful for adding flavour if cooking supper and can be reconstituted with water for spreading on bread.

Any interest in a new "virtual camino?"

I’ll add a vote for the Olvidado. Having planned and failed to walk it twice, perhaps it will be third time lucky next year.

I am leaving. Not Forum just yet, but Camino.

Hi David. Although our paths never crossed on the camino, I remember with affection that evening back in 2013 in Worle when I drank too much wine with you and @JohnMcM. I have always read your posts with interest and thank you for all you have given to the pilgrim community. Hopefully we’ll...

It Started by a Dutch radiostation and is spreading around Europe

Thanks for posting that @Peter Fransiscus. This was my Liverpudlian Dad’s favourite song. We played it at his funeral. It’s very meaningful to me.

Starling Bank account or Revolut Pre-loaded Card?

I’ve had a Starling account for a couple of years and am very happy with it.

What 'Camino' Food do you Now eat at Home?

Happily. I used this recipe for the lupin bean (altramuces) “cheese”. Depending on the saltiness I find the beans need thorough rinsing to remove as much salt as possible. And I probably used much more nutritional yeast (levadura de cerveza) than the recipe states because it makes everything...

What 'Camino' Food do you Now eat at Home?

A few caminos ago I discovered altramuces (lupin beans), which were offered as a bar snack in Alba de Yeltes on the Camino Torres. I had to be trained in how to eat them, by nibbling a corner of the thick covering skin and squeezing the bean through the hole directly into the mouth. On...

    Using WikiLoc ?

I walked this route last year and recorded on wikiloc every stage. After the Torres I jumped on a bus from Ponte de Lima to Viana de Castelo and walked to Santiago via the Coastal and Espiritual routes. I know others won't agree with me but I only use wikiloc for recording and I use maps.me...

Anyone else find this song a bit "Camino-ish"...?

I love this forum! Whilst enjoying the videos posted here I received a WhatsApp from my dearest friend who has this morning walked the first kms of the Ruta de la Lana. She should have walked with me earlier in the year but family issues prevented her from doing so. And then I receive messages...

    Vegan IS possible :)

I have walked my last two caminos on a plant only diet. I am an experienced camino walker and knew what facilities I might expect to find on a lesser walked route (Mozárabe from Almería last year, and Ruta de la Lana this year). The Mozárabe was a lot easier as there were more albergues with...
