Bagged maple sugar can travel more safely than maple syrup in glass bottles, and makes for a versatile substitution (in addition to the maple candy leaves which have a nice strong flavour!)
I wish you had been able to watch the film to the end. The whole point of the film was about how the Camino experience tempered him and helped him to understand why his son was so passionate about travel and he falls in love with the idea for himself.
It’s on Amazon tv and available in Canada. So far, fairly interesting. The Camino itself, the scenery, the buildings, the accommodations certainly do feature prominently so it’s quite pretty.
I have a fancy newer Nordictrack treadmill that has a 15% incline and a 3% decline. With a subscription service, I walk routes pre-mapped or built by me, anywhere in the world mapped by Google street view. When in this mode, my treadmill will automatically adjust to the inclination/declination...
Married 23 years, together for a total of 32 years. I too, love the Camino analogy, even though I have yet to walk one, lol! I think the keys to our success have included the willingness to compromise, the courage to be honest with one another, and a mutual love of adventure. Though if I’m...
In my case, the Ancestry DNA test was able to finally clarify a long family mystery. My grandfather was abandoned to Children’s Aid at birth and gave fake info on his marriage certificate- but we later believed that we found the identity of his parents, a disgraced Irish Protestant girl and a...

Blessed Solstice to you as well! I was too fatigued to stay up all night, but I did rise in the wee hours to light a candle, give thanks, and bake some fresh bread before greeting the morning sun 🌞. Best wishes to all for happy and safe holidays, and a prosperous New Year!
I’d not thought of knitting on the Camino before, but it’s a marvellous idea! I find it a meditative experience which would nicely pair with the pilgrimage. My first thought was concern about the extra weight, but I like the ideas of others in packing a lace weight yarn. Perhaps I can work on a...
Plenty of foodies I see have been on Camino! It is reassuring to know that when the time comes, I and my chef husband will not be disappointed. Buen Camino!
If you are driving, get on the 401 TransCanada Highway going east, and don’t get off until you see signs for Pearson Airport in Toronto. If you aren’t driving, Greyhound bus line or other local bus will get you there the same route and cheaply. VIA rail is good, but pricey and schedules can be...
