Five years ago, I celebrated my 75th on CF. This June, I plan to celebrate my 80th, on my 5th Camino. Last Summer, near Santiago, I met an 86-year-old Frenchman who started his 1st Camino in Le Puy, 2 1/2 months earlier. He had averaged about 13 miles(21 km) a day. My new hero!
I do the same, and it works well for me. Those morning breaks are very tasty and nutritious. For those who must have something before heading out---an apple or orange will work. Or an energy bar.
Yes, I celebrated my 75th and 76th birthdays on the Camino. I am hoping to return in May to celebrate my 77th, in June. I regret that I didn't start sooner. In Santiago, I saw a woman who had taken her father on the Camino...
Wow! How well written. I love your thoughts. A year after celebrating my 75th birthday on the Camino, I am headed back in 9 days, for another completely different experience---doing exactly the same thing. Some would say, "Why?" I say, "Why not?" If it feels good, why stop? Buen Camino.
When I was in Finisterre, last June, there were at least two monuments recognizing Rotary. When I start on May 24, from SJPP, I hope to visit clubs in Spain. It is fun to visit clubs around the World.
For anyone who doesn't know about Rotary, look into it---you will make great friends and will...
