All the single ladies, all the single ladies

There is a female Pilgrims FB page and it is a wonderful source of information as we do have some questions and concerns that men would not.

What to Order at a Bar or Cafe after Using the Restroom

I always purchase something in the bar/cafe as the owners pay for the toilet paper/electricity/staff to clean/the equipment that we use. So I buy a coffee and pastry or sandwich.

    Discarded face masks

I so agree with you, I was aghast at how much senseless graffiti and trash there was on the Camino. I unfortunately saw so many memorials people left for loved ones, I know it was heartfelt and probably looked meaningful when it was left behind but unfortunately so many times by the time I saw...

How long (time km and time) and how much is total cost for whole camino walk?

The answer is yes and no. Does it help to train the answe is of course but can you do it without training the answer is again of course. Take it easier in the beginning so you don’t do damage to yourself initially as your body gets use to the rhythm. The cost has so many variables but figure...

Packing List : Food - What food/nutritional items are in your bag, when you leave home ?

As well as bringing pre-package small packets of Kirkland trail mix to help with the initial energy lags our rhythm was to start the day with water, an orange, cheese, meat and a baguette to eat along the way, a cafe con leche along the way and end our day with a pilgrims meal, it really cut down...

Weirdest/Strangest item someone has taken on the Camino

At times I wished I brought a hair dryer as it would have been so handy drying clothes 😁 by the way as well as good weather we had torrential downpours and snow

    Brands of tea in Spain

Honestly tea like coffee is a preference thing but any tea you buy will be drank and appreciated.

    Prayer books

That is a personal choice, as far as prayers before meals there were only a few alburges that had prayers before a provided meal.. For myself I thanked the Lord for the day, the people and asked for continued blessings for all those on the Camino. While walking I prayed continuously though not...

Revolut instant debit card for intl use

I used the Caxica (sic) bank for my withdrawal from my Canadian bank as they don’t charge fees and as I got my max amount of euros out each time my fees were minimal.

Opening new credit card for the bonus (plus airlines question)

Really it’s dependent on how much you use your card and your county of origin. Also if the card you use is accepted in the country you travel to. Also factor in if to get the perk you have to pay an annual fee or spend X amount of dollars. As I normally travel the world I have as specific card I...

    Money exchange - current rates

We found Caixia (sic) bank had the best rates when we went, regardless of where we were. Others were ridiculous. That being said dollar/euro values are really bouncing around at the moment

What is your perspective on this rather metaphysical question?

Do not let other dissuade you from your heart’s desire but realize that no place is perfect. If you have enough money and the ability to live somewhere else , go for it. I would say as much as people hear “the Camino Provides “ it is the people and their mindsets that help others it is not mystical.

When did you first break-free from your guidebook?

We never really followed it, the first time we went I estimated how far we would walk and where we would stay (I was completely wrong) we read the guide book but didn’t really use it for anything other than information about the area we were in. The most used and helpful thing we used were the...

    My Camino regret!

No regrets maybe tweaks such as more photos of the people we interacted with. Perhaps a day or two stop overs but take the tourist city tours in the places that offered them.

To what extent did 'others' influence your Walking Distance and Stops? (Not a Poll)

I walked with my husband, what an amazing experience to share. Yes as you are walking with a person you have to adjust. We found our rhythm, always starting and ending together but during the day though we had eating/beverage breaks together walking we found walking our own pace worked the best...

What food did you ENJOY on your Camino(s)?

Cafe con leche! But the tapas and bread are incredible

What is your perspective on this rather metaphysical question?

If you are financially stable and the world is open then I would say yes. I don’t know where you are from but I would suggest take the 2 year leave with the plan to retire after that.

Have you been married a long time?

We are heading into our 40th Anniversary this year. As we were young getting married so many did not have faith we would last so stubbornness comes into it, the unwillingness to prove that people were “right” and they weren’t. He makes me laugh but the biggest thing I would say is throughout the...
