    I carry cash , rare do I use a card, never an ATM ( backup only ). There are various threads on amount required per day.

    Always carry emergency food enough for a small lunch or dinner eg. can tuna in oil, nuts, chocolate. Eggs make a cheap omlette dinner ( if kitchen available ) and a boiled egg for the trail.
