    Staying motivated between Caminos

I have to back you up on that coming from a Norwegian first. I live in Germany and the first time I heard that quote it came from a Norwegian.

Tell me what I need to know

I’ll throw two pieces of information on the pile I think are vital. Absolutely no cotton anything belongs on you or in your packs. Merino wool or quick dry space-age material are better in my humble opinion. Shoes and packs get mentioned often and that’s good information, but don’t scrimp on...

    Staying motivated between Caminos

That is so me. I ride my bike 12km to my gardens, work a bit, walk completely different trails before riding home. All while listening to podcasts … I only listen to podcasts when I walk and garden.

    Trail Names

I didn't really have one on the Camino, but apparently lots of people referred to me as the guy from Nebraska so often that my Camino family referred to me as the Legend while we were in Santiago. LOL

    Queueing at pilgrims office

That's plenty early, the office opens at 9:00. I had planned on getting there at 8:30, but got caught up in conversation with someone on the way ... getting there a bit later got me number 146 which didn't take particularly long to get me to the window to get everything I needed.

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2021?

This is Jakobsweg (James Way in German) where it goes over the top of the hill I live on ... whichever way I turn onto the trail it's going to be a "hill training day."

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2021?

Thank you for the warm welcome. The Jakobsweg (James Way) starts at Fulda and goes through Mainz on its way to Trier and then into France. I plan on starting the Jakobsweg in Fulda even though it goes over the hill I live on its way to Trier. Another possibly would be following the Jakobsweg to...

Do you have tips for meeting people on the Camino?

I always look and listen for something I may have in common with someone. For example you're from Denmark which is an easy one for me. My grandfather was Danish. I got married in Denmark twenty years ago. We've been back a few times since then including several trips to Norway and Sweden. I...

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2021?

Pferdkopf ... the highpoint of today's hike.

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2021?

Guckaisee ... our start point today.
  11. VikingWarrior

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2021?

From Guckaisee up to Pferdkopf and back down to the lake ... not sure how high Pferdkopf is, but it's near the Wasserkuppe which is 950 meters.

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2021?

Today I'm hiking a piece of the Jakobsweg (James Way) in Germany ... it goes right over the hill we live on. Tomorrow the redhead and I are going hiking in the Röhn starting at the Wasserkuppe with our two youngest daughters.

Where did you walk ( locally ) in 2021?

I'm rather fortunate to live with the Spessart mountain range on my southern horizon, the Kinzig river valley below my house and the Vogelsberg mountain range to the north. I normally hike in the Spessart, run along the river and mountain bike in the Vogelsberg. Not bad for a guy that grew up...
