Listening to music while on the camino

I have listened to a playlist while walking alone and a little tired and needed a little pick me up.

How has the Camino changed you.

I use silicon ear plugs because my wife snores.🤣😂

    Bed bugs

Maybe somethings should be sprayed by the hospitalero like: backpacks, shoes etc. I donated my Keen sandals to a girl whose gym or trail shoes shrunk in the dryer. They were probably too small to start, but there was no way she could wear them after the dryer. My sanadals were way too big, but...

Going "off stage" - Camino Frances

@SarahTheKiwi You can look at the profile of the stage on gronze.com. Look under the map "Ver perfil de la etapa".

Going "off stage" - Camino Frances

I have always booked ahead for the first 3 stages SJPdP, Orisson, and Roncevalles. I then got off stage which means walking a ~1/2 day somewhere and let the walk unfold naturally. How did I feel that day? Do I want to stay in sync with or catch up to some new friends? Do I want to spend more...

Strangest food & drink on the Camino

Maybe not so strange, but new to me was a queimada. The hospis made after curfew one night somewhere on the Portguese and asked everyone not a sleep to join in. It was a cool nighttime ritual ... laddling the hot mix on fire and saying whatever your chose to share with the group.

Strangest food & drink on the Camino

I had something similar in ~Villa Franca it tasted like chorizo but it was a nasty knarly set of bones and the source was unidenifieable. I asked but could not understand the response. They were probably laugung in the kitchen.

All the single ladies, all the single ladies

I think you will be safe. I think the formation of a Camino family or tramily is dependent on a lot of factors, but I doubt you will have any problems if you are open and social. I think that Joanna (solo female) asked to walk out of León with us because there was a report on the Camiga FB group...

    Burgos accommodations

I have stayed at Norte y Londres not far from the cathedral. I think next time I might try to stay at NH Collection Palacio de Burgos.

Saying Goodbye: Leaving From Home or the Airport?

Denice dropped me off and picked me up in Miami for my first Camino (~2.5 hour drive one way). Since then I have rented a car and drove myself. Denice was sad but supportive on my first Camino. She remains supportive, but does not fully comprehend why I go and just accepts that I need to go. It...

    Rest days

Maybe Pamplona is too early for a rest day, but it is worth exploring a Basque city. I usually fly into Madrid, take a train to Pamplona, and then a bus to SJPdP. Last time I spent the night in Pamplona and caught the bus the next day, @trecile had a good plan for Logroño that can be used for...

    Homemade tastes of the Camino?

I love burnt Basque cheesecake. I had a goat cheese version at Jaleo in Orlando a week ago that was a nice variation. I think it was 50 50 cream cheese to goat cheese.

    Pilgrim in spirit?

In the APOC hospitalero training, it was a requirement to have a credential in order to obtain a bed. There was no additional criteria to be a pilgrim. I think you are a pilgrim, if you think you are a pilgrim. 🤔

Does my plan for mailing some supplies ahead to myself make sense?

@hawkeyepierce +1 for a bounce box (Lista de Correos: Pamplona, Burgos, Leon, Santiago de Compostela). https://www.elcaminoconcorreos.com/en/correos-offices https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/threads/how-do-you-use-such-a-small-pack.73621/#post-1007407...

    Prayer books

For those walking the Francés, there is a blacksmith shop (Forge of Ayegui ... search the forum for Ayegui) next to the Irache wine fountain. He sells ~iron Camino shells and St. James crosses in various sizes. I tied a knotted cord rosary and attached one of the iron shells where the cross...

@Thorben why not scan or locate a PDF of your favorite and put it on your phone that way you are not dependent on WIFI.

What are some Common Camino Misconceptions?

It's a misconception that when you post a misconception that you need to start with "it's a misconception that...".🤣😂
