Ingles weather in May - something resembling a real question

I can't imagine that a couple of weeks would make any difference to rain - you should worry more about muddy conditions underfoot
  2. S

Poll How many km/miles per day do you use to walk in average?

I've walked from Baamonde to Santiago in two days and, last year, from Lugo to Santiago - having a hotel reservation in Santiago and a flight the following lunchtime worked for me - but does need some 10 hours walking each day
  3. S

    The New Compostela Queuing System

No, on Wednesday they just told everyone to come back on Friday!

    Protein bars yes or no?

Ugh, Kendal mint cake is so sickly sweet! Protein bars are overkill for most people on the camino especially if you bring enough bars for the whole walk - I can get by walking a long day on just liquid and chocolate but a banana would be a perfectly good alternative to protein bars

    May 2020 Pyrenees Weather?

Snow is unlikely in May - but if the winter has been wet, mud is much more likely to be a problem in some parts

    Taking a number in Santiago.

It's not that surprising if tickets stopped being issued at lunch-time the previous day
  7. S

    Taking a number in Santiago.

I could use the computer in Pilgrim House, for example
  8. S

    Taking a number in Santiago.

Surely, if it can take 15 minutes to issue a single compostella and you need to cope with so many pilgrims then automation to a greater extent is the only answer

    Taking a number in Santiago.

As part of your suggested process, would it be possible to also allow the QR codes to be emailed and printed off so that those of us who do not carry a mobile phone are not excluded from the express line
  10. S

    Taking a number in Santiago.

The diversity in time taken from 2mins-15mins per person that Tom mentions should prompt some internal analysis, if only to allow the staff to highlight reasons behind the extreme times (both short and long) I was towards the low end since the time I took to fill in my line of information was...

    Weather forecast

No - even if you can afford a supercomputer
  12. S

    Taking a number in Santiago.

Hardy surprising since the stopping of issuing tickets merely defers demand - it will also make it less attractive to walk into SdC first thing as you will be behind the latecomers queue

Pilgrim office not giving out numbers after 2:00 pm??

I had already bought my ticket for the Portico of Glory but did indeed join the queue at 7.15 the following morning - my main concern was for the poor security guard who had to spend hours telling people that there would be no more tickets handed out that afternoon when a notice on the door...

Pilgrim office not giving out numbers after 2:00 pm??

Well the system certainly doesn't work well for those of us without a mobile phone
  15. S

    Taking a number in Santiago.

But also note that if you arrive (like I did at 6.20pm last Friday) after they have stopped issuing tickets for the day, then you will have to go back the following morning

    Weather in April/May

It's odd to use a small sample of forum responses to try and forecast what next year's weather will be like Better to wait until nearer your departure date and find out how rainy the winter/spring has been and only then look at some long-range weather forecasts You can easily find typical...

Where have all the arrows gone?

That's what guideboks are for - particularly their town plans
  18. S

    Sound Check, Please...

    sounds fine for me

Complete your Camino de Santiago at Burger King in Leon!!!

Not sure that I'd want to drink a cravat of wine - as opposed to a carafe!
