Needing some tech help (or maybe just searching help)— albergue lists

Actually, it is just the default directory structure that WordPress blogs (which is what that site is constructed with) uses when saving uploaded files. WordPress has been around for a while, but it is still a modern, popular platform for websites. The directories are presented in a similar...

Needing some tech help (or maybe just searching help)— albergue lists

Here's a Google search that lists all of the PDFs on their site, in one listing. That saves you from having to explore each of their sub-directories. https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Ahttp%3A%2F%2Fwww.peregrinoslh.com%2F+filetype%3Apdf Lots of good stuff, although most of it is a few...

Needing some tech help (or maybe just searching help)— albergue lists

The "11" in "/uploads/2017/11/" isn't indicating a version number. It is the month the document was uploaded to their site. As best as I can tell, that is the most recent version available on the site. Or am I misunderstanding what you are looking for? FYI, you can do a Google search for all...

Frustrating, irritating, and annoying pictures on this forum.

Many photos these days have GPS metadata embedded within them. A future small upgrade to the forum software could extract the coordinates automatically, do a lookup to one of the online geolocation servers (returning the name of the nearest community), and then automatically add that to the...

Poll Which Spanish Caminos have you walked?

Many, many, many pilgrims who walk the Portugués never set foot in Portugal as they (somewhat ironically) start in Tui. :-)

    Can someone please enlighten me?

Wikipedia says it's a 'Water protection area': https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Segnaletica_stradale_in_Svizzera

    Is the Camino a Curse?

It's more of a disease, eating away at you relentlessly. It typically starts slow, with only mild symptoms, but if not excised quickly it is often permanent. Friends and family eventually give up trying to cure you, though they never really stop looking at you with that sad 'what hath life...

O km stone located in SdC, Finisterre or is there one in both places?

Personally, by the time I get to Santiago I don't want the brass band. Just a masseuse and a podiatrist. :-)

O km stone located in SdC, Finisterre or is there one in both places?

Actually, I think @NorthernLight may be correct. There is a marker there but not actually a "0 km" marker... You'd think I'd know the text on that marker by heart by now! Gotta dig through my photos and check... :) The one at Cape Finisterre, though, definitely has a signpost with "0.0 km" on it.

O km stone located in SdC, Finisterre or is there one in both places?

Oh, and there is a 0 km marker in Finisterre, too, though obviously signifying 0 km to the 'end of the world' rather than to Santiago.

O km stone located in SdC, Finisterre or is there one in both places?

@trecile - I think you must have just missed the brass band. They're usually there. Confetti. Balloons. The whole shebang! :) There is a 0 km marker, though, right in the middle of Praza do Obradoiro.

    Sign for pilgrims

Personally, I prefer an approach that encourages participation / cooperation rather than sounding like a command or directive. Also, I suggest using "Caminho" even in the English portion rather than "the way". Thus, something like: "Please don't dispose of plastic water bottles on the Caminho"...

    Copyright on scallop shell

I had an 'interesting' copyright problem a year or so ago. I was submitting one of my apps to Google Play. It was initially rejected because someone had claimed ownership of the term "Camino de Santiago"! I had to appeal the decision. Eventually, Google reversed their decision but it took a...

    Copyright on scallop shell

If use of the scallop shell itself is subject to copyright then a *lot* of people (myself included) will likely be in some serious trouble. It's widely used and certainly not under any sort of licensing arrangement. I have not heard of anyone claiming ownership of the symbol, but that doesn't...

    CPAP On CP

Luckily, modern CPAPs are surprisingly quiet compared to the old beasts. In my opinion, people should actually be appreciative of CPAP users since most CPAP users who aren't using their machine are among the worst snorers! :-) Win-win!

    CPAP On CP

Oh - forgot to add that having a plug extender has the benefit that even if all plugs are taken, you can ask someone if you can plug in the extender. They then plug their device into the extender leaving a spot still available for you.

    CPAP On CP

Many private albergues now have bunks that have individual plugs (for that bunk). One suggestion: consider carrying a plug extender (such as 'two plugs in one') since often the bunk-specific plugs have just one plug. If your CPAP is using the available plug the extender gives you another for...
