Your avatar clearly indicates you are a fluffy bear and those indeed should fear rain as they get all soaked up!
BTW, who is the guy posing to the left of you?
I would not change much as I think also the bad and the "ugly" are part of the overall experience. And as one is on the road for 3 / 4 weeks at least, the less nice parts dilute to very little in fact. Also, you appreciate the good things more if you have at least some contrasting things ...
It might not be as picturesque as Antigua (been there a couple of years ago) ;-) ... but miles of nothing is something many people cannot get where they live. It is an experience very different from their normal life. Also, some people need the nothing to empty their head, others need it to fill...
But that leaves you with less than 22 k per day which is maybe less stressful than you think as you might develop hikers legs along the way. But that was not your question, I know :)
I personally would never cut any part from the middle as it does not work for me psychologically. That said, I...
ok, as I was blowing the same horn I will erase my earlier post.
But on the other hand I think it is quite nice that words posted on here lead to people reflect about concepts and ideas. I saw nothing personal or judgmental in that.
"that person" was as far as I read it just saying that wherever you decide to sleep and eat and how you do a camino overall does not define if you are a pilgrim or not. You do not "disqualify" yourself by whatever choice you make in all this.
I thought that was actually nice... and it is more...
I must live in a different world (which could actually be the case with respect to geography and culture), as I never saw these things attributed to men only, not in magazines/catalogues. It is more like heaps of equipment presented gender neutral, except when it comes to real anatomical...
Thanks for clarification. I was so shocked by the possibility of a discrimination by gender that i did not read fully ... 🙈 .. also I am in the middle of a snow storm so I am distracted. 🤣
😢
Still those are not the workhorse publications, but those who go for sensationalism. But sad nevertheless. Maybe it is good that I left science a good while ago.
And they have gender specific sections?? 🥶 I know that Nature and Science already a decade ago started becoming a bit ... ordinary. But that is something hard to imagine. Or something I do not want to imagine.
Science magazines of that kind (e.g. not peer reviewed journals where you submit your articles as a scientist) are not science but only meant for entertainment.
I can assure you that every time I go on a Camino or any other kind of travel abroad I get the same question! 🤣 ... and I am male and a seasoned hiker, done many lengthy expedition style solo hikes in the wild and wherever - still it happens all the time.
People just do not get it because they...
When I quit my last job as an employee to take a break and do some "crazy" things, my that time boss said he wished he would be brave enough to do the same. ;-)
One could add that the first half of the text is in fact not so unsimilar to what male future pilgrims often experience. This probably does not stem from being male or female, but from the inability of people to understand why one wants to do it. Why walk a camino. They do not know what it is...
