    Days from Leon to Santiago

I assume they differentiate between albergues ran by church/municipality/xunta etc and private options. Where the former at least in the old days didn’t take any reservations but the private does in most cases. I see that a lot of people have answered what it takes for them to walk from León...

    Days from Leon to Santiago

What is your pace when walking with backpack? How much do you want to rest during the walk (lunch/rest etc)? How long days do you want to have door to door? Do you want any rest days? The distance is 308 km from León to SdC. the number of available accommodations and their distance is also a...

    Distant booms

In some areas they are using air canons to scare off birds from crops. Walking in autumn you can also hear shots from hunters.

Tips for buying warm clothes in Ponferrada

I was in Ponferrada yesterday and the Camino just passed the old town that haven’t much more than the castle and bars. Saw one clothes shop but it was more fancy dresses and scarfs. There is a bazar at C. San Valerio, 5 I was never in but I self equipped my self in a store like that a couple of...

Norte or Portuguese + new painting

It was a bit of a bed rush but it was not that I was thinking of. More of a feeling of doing it for sports reasons then anything else. People asking you how far have you walked, how fast not with a curious intent more to be able to brag them self (hard when they meet me who always do double...

Norte or Portuguese + new painting

Lovely painting. Views on Norte lovely but competitive feeling more sport than pilgrimage. At least in July/Aug. Camino climate/friendliness/spiritual feeling better on Portuguese (walked from Lisboa). A bit more boring surroundings I would say but there are alternatives and most of the time ok.

What city do you arrive in after 2 weeks of walking from SJPdP?

Well I walked slow on CF compared to the following caminos :-) (I had shin splints and a Hb value of 70 ;-) )

Walking 21 days from Pamplona to Santiago. Is it ok?

So I looked at your plan and have some questions. Your stages are a bit uneven, your stops are there places you want to visit? Do you want to stay in the bigger cities? I would actually recommend a shorter first day unless you have a day or so before. Time difference etc. and then walk a little...

Walking 21 days from Pamplona to Santiago. Is it ok?

If you are fit and used to long distances and enjoy walking the whole day (like I do) I would say that it is no problem at all and you will have a lovely experience. I walked från SJpdP in 23 days and was in Pamplona my second day so I had 21 days from Pamplona. My stages are here...

Can you please help a new pilgrim from NZ?

What is the distance you think you can cover in a day as average? Knowing that and it is easier to help you plan. It also depends if you are seeking a camino family or not as people here has mentioned already. I have walked most of mine without, as I'm a fast walker covering long distances I...

    Tissue Paper

Yesterday my bladder got bananas and I had to pee 8 times. Of course I jump of the track and find a place where people will not go for the same reason as me. The TP I put in a ziplock bag in my pocket. Easy as that. But today the wind took my dripping nose paper when I pulled my guide out of the...

Suggestions for a 14 day Camino Frances

I should calculate 25-30 then. A lot of the walking is really easy. I walked CF in 2013 as my first camino but I have hiked in the Swedish mountains with backpack before that and my average speed is almost always about the same as yours when I add some stop for photo, lunch etc. This were my...
