I left SJPDP on Monday, September 19, 2022. Arrived October 23. (As someone suggested above, leaving on a Monday can help avoid a wave starting on the weekend.)
Crowds were a non-issue, even after Sarria. Don't let the complaints of busyness scare you away.

One idea comes to mind... In Lectoure... go to the tourist office and the keys to the tower. I was able to go up to the top all by myself. Wonderful views and being there by myself was especially cool.

I was under the impression that most places did not have laundry equipment so washing your clothes in the sink was the norm. Is that right? How often can you find places with washers and dryers? (I do my first camino next year. I'll be on the Le Puy route all the way to Muxia.)
