Never use your card in a bank ATM if the bank is closed. If there is a problem and the ATM retains your card you cannot get it back until the bank opens.
Just in case anyone is misled, your 'All' should read 'Most' as Portugal is on the same time as the UK (as should be most of Spain). So those walking the Portuguese Camino lose an hour when crossing into Spain.
I stayed at Casa David last October. They certainly had a reservation book which they checked when I arrived. Nice and clean, breakfast available, dinner is eaten further back up the street.
I've found the new (May 2013) guide "Hiking the Camino de Santiago" by Anna Dintaman & David Landis very useful as they provide details of both albergues and hostals for each of the stages along the CF.
The camino for bikes passes by the gate, the direction 'da Serra' is 900 m further. If you telephone we will drive to collect you free of charge. Good road.
But I notice that their web site says the albergue is closed when they have camps or schools visiting.
I have added these albergues to the list of amendments for the pdf file http://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/resources/%E2%80%9Call%E2%80%9D-albergues-on-the-camino-frances-in-one-pdf.10/ . I expect this will be revised in the next week so any further amendments are welcome
I wouldn't make that assumption
http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/travel/passenger-rights/air-security/index_en.htm will give you an overview but unfortunately the assessment on what constitutes a weapon will be determined by the security on duty on the day at a particular airport...
That's the one that I used and would recommend.
My Altus poncho caught me out like that the first time but I learnt to put it on on one side and then pass it behind me and over the pack before putting the other side on. Same with taking it off, just needs a bit of practice :D
Re: Re: I will walk the Camino with “NO” money
That is my view as well! Jim's approach is artificial as he is not really in need of any support and is simply opting to appear so. I would give him short shrift on the camino.
There are no blankets in Roncevalles where I slept last night but it is quite warm so they are not necessary even with just a silk liner.
