StJPdP to Finisterre in 30 Days - Sample Itinerary?

Anything is possible if you put your mind to it. The key is preperation meeting opportunuty equals success. If Op doesn't make it to Finisterre as mentioned there's no shame in jumping return bus as he'll have completed the 799 km trek from St.Jean. The bit from Santiago to Finisterre is another...

StJPdP to Finisterre in 30 Days - Sample Itinerary?

I know that the Francè doesn't start in St. Jean but there's something about starting somewhere in France crossing the border into Spain that makes the journey more apt and unique. Afterall its called the CDF and someday I'd love to start in Le Puy but would never consider starting in Ronce...

StJPdP to Finisterre in 30 Days - Sample Itinerary?

It take around 4 to 5 days to find your walking rhythm, adjust to the Camino routine and I'd aim for Logrono by day 6 or 7. After this increase your distance to what feels comfortable but don't forget to include rest days in the major cities. These rest days in Pamplona, Logrono, Burgos, Leon...

Talking about work while on the Camino

Have you considered that no-one will be interested in what you do, I've never been asked my profession in 4 Caminos. If your asked make something up, divert attention or just ignore. I expect you'll be first to volunteer the information as you'll no doubt let the cat out of the bag over a...

    Alto del Perdon

I'm not sure what your asking, the mount of forgiveness is my favourite part of the Francè and I've taken both paths on the descent and both are reasonably steep but can be easily negotiated on a mountain bike or if too hairy it doesn't take long to walk with bike. Its my understanding that...

    Credential...enough space?

I wouldn't and haven't implied that I disbelief it but with other newbies looking on I think it's valid to create a realistic expectation plus Ops question I believe has been answered as per post #39 but accept its off topic but then that's what usually happens towards end of thread, hence mods...

    Credential...enough space?

I'm not convinced, I'm fitter than most I meet. I don't think age or level of fitness is only indicator. The France's is a test of mind and body, the terrain can be unforgiving if not respected and its very easy to pick up strains, blisters, plantar as it takes some time to find your rhythm. The...

    Credential...enough space?

If the route was flat, no pleasant distractions and no rest days and injury free I might make it in 21 days but my instinct and experience would allow 28 days and despite running marathons I would be hsrd pushed to consistently maintain 40km day and would advise anyone reading against it 🤠

    Credential...enough space?

Fewer than 21 days, I'm guessing not many but I'm open to the possibility but find it a little dubious having walked numerous caminos with averaging 25km and finishing with 70km day I would find it challenging to walk from St Jean to Santiago in three weeks. Personally I'd recommend against it...

    Credential...enough space?

That's the fastest I've read anyone completing the 500 miles. Did you sleep 🤠

    Parador in Leon

If I'm needing some TLC, my choice would be Hotel Spa Paris, Leon. The spa was extra but well worth it. I can't comment on food as missed breakfast and ate elsewhere for dinner. Leon is my favourite major city on the route 🤠

Tips for couple of youngters doing the camino Frances in March/April

I'm surprised having received the valuable advice you've had that your still leaning towards taking a tent. Experience is something you get just after needing it. I've thought about carrying one in past and once you experience the camaraderie of the municipal albergues, warmth of a comfortable...

    Getting a bed in 2021

I understand your concerns and expect that businesses along the way will be thinking up ways to maximize their occupancy. I'm not sure I'll be walking, who am I kidding I will be there and be prepared to sleep under the stars. Who knows maybe ill introduce myself to the homeless community and...

'Addiction'- an appropriate word for wanting to walk the Camino again (& again)?

Interesting comments and duly noted but in context I see nothing wrong with using the term for example having an addiction to an activity like walking, running, gym, watching TV or playing video games. Personally speaking sometimes the Camino has crossed over from addiction to an obsession and...

Walking the Camino Frances multiple times - why?

@Bradypus Thank you for your considered response and continued questions. I respect your choice and my pov is not any more than a view, a way to look at things through a different set of eyes 🤠 Haven't we all changed over the years and isn't change inevitable🤠 In hindsight it turned out I had...

Walking the Camino Frances multiple times - why?

Maybe this says more about your expectations , why do you feel the need to recapture anything. I thought the same about my youth and then realised the value of my health, body and mind for where I am now. One of many lessons I've learned is too leave behind your expectations and go forward with...

Walking the Camino Frances multiple times - why?

The first is special but it gets better with experience. Plus the high or awakened state of consciousness lingers and lasts longer and gives a glimpse of a state of higher conscious that is proactive instead of reactive 🤠

Are you thinking to walk the Camino (the way of the Saint James) again?

The 'roads', no but the off-roads especially uneven trails leading to the unknown familiar canopy of eucalyptus trees and sound of nature all around with the possibility of meeting the next pilgrim ahead and continued adventure on the people path of positive intention or camino love 🤠

    Eight weeks on the Camino

Best value for Money CP one-way ticket, start in Lisbon spend couple of days, walk to Porto, stay couple of days then take one rest day every week. Coastal route from Porto and detour spiritual variant to Santiago, stay couple of days then to Muxia and Finisterre for couple of days. Soak it all...
