    "river route" into Burgos safety

It was not well marked and felt a bit sketchy. I'm 6'4" so a lady alone probably would not feel ok. I used taxi in the past going into Pamplona, Burgos, and out of Leon. I feel that St James is understanding.

    "river route" into Burgos safety

I walked Camino Frances last May (third time) along the river into Burgos. Mistake. Take a taxi as soon as you pass the overpass. Best 10e you could invest.

    SEPTEMBER PILGRIM

Just a note to those that are also starting about the time I am (Sept 7th) - I will end up in Santiago in mid Oct. Seems that there is a major national holiday over the weekend of Oct 13-15 and many or most hotels a booked up. I never plan ahead....but I know I will need a place to stay in...

    Camino Alternative Guide

Thank you Ivar - This really provides a nice backup plan which I have been looking for. I will leave for Roncesvalles next week and plan to use the Brierley guide when possible. September Babies: Sept 12 is the day!

Kelly - sounds like the weather is going to be a bit wet and cold. I was going to leave my heavy flees and warm hat behind but I am repacking them now. how the weather in

Santos - You can get wieght done below 18lbs and will have a much better experience if you do, HOWEVER it will cost you some money. Light weight sleeping bags (1lb), packs (2lbs) and clothes (less than 1lbs) including rain gear can be obtained from good hiking outfitters. They may be expensive...
