I stayed there last October. Lourdes was hospitalera, very kind.. A giant paella and plenty of wine! Lovely evening, nice small group of pilgrims and no WiFi to distract us... was perfect!
I think I'm the first to mention these two:
San Bol and San Anton stand out for me as special places on the Meseta, where you can literally unplug! It is a short, easy day between the two, leaving you fresh for the early climb after Castrojerez..

Yes indeed. And while making the odd informal enquiry in person about a friend might once in a while glean a positive response from a sympathetic hospi, phoning albergues or making official enquiries about their register is the business of the Guardia Civil.
