You are starting just over a week from now? Have you have trained in, or broken in, a couple of different types of shoes? Wear the one that feels comfiest with your feet and your socks. For us - we each started training with one type of shoe and ended up starting our Camino in a different...

Sadly. mid afternoon on our first day in SdC, we had a really nice chat with a super lovely lady who was camping for the night because they could not find a room or a bunk….

    Salceda and O Pedrouzo

We enjoyed Pedrouzo. Our accommodation was lovely, we had a nice meal and the trail was a very nice start to the day. Just need to be careful whether to choose the woodland walk (recommended) or follow the road.

Where to Buy Prepaid SIM in Leon?

Thanks all. We found the Orange store right around the corner from our hotel, five minutes before closing - and we didn’t have our passports with us, it hadn’t occurred to us that we’d need them. Hubby did a super quick run to our hotel to collect a passport , all done very quickly and we can’t...

Where to Buy Prepaid SIM in Leon?

Hi all. Sorry to not do a thorough search of threads, it been a rather busy couple of days and I’m ever so slightly jet-lagged (it’s after 2am in NZ 😊). We did our last minute shopping in Barcelona today but the only place we could find advertising “Orange“ was a wee shop I just didn’t feel...

Wishing everyone well. I am thoughtful, grateful and just a little nervous 😊

It feels like all of a sudden, after nine months of planning and dreaming - we are six days (OMG!) from flying from Tauranga via Auckland to Barcelona and from there starting our first Camino from La Laguna. We are excited to walk this ancient trail and make new memories together, an old married...

Did you take many photos and videos?

We will be walking our first Camino next month, from La Laguna. Like Sherpa47, we like to make photo books of significant travels and I also keep a journal. I keep a wee collection of tickets, business cards etc and glue them at some stage on the travels or later when home. Photo books and...

After years of dreaming I've pulled the trigger and booked my flights!

I think you will find that many people care, here and elsewhere in your life, and you are wished Buen Camino 😊. Memorial markers on the Camino de Santiago

I have a token that I think I need to put down and walk away from. We will join the CF after the Cruz de Ferro. Is there a place similar on the way to SdC? Or perhaps the place will make itself known? I’m a bit sad tonight for whatever reason but so happy in anticipation of our Camino in May...

    Things I fear

Lots of practical and pragmatic advice here! We will do our first Camino Frances from O’Cebreiro next year and we have a mix of excitement, trepidation and a somewhat puzzling feeling of peace about it. No-one said it would be easy! Someone recently sent me a quote “Not every day is a good...

“Top of the head” question about 100 mile marker

Thank you for your reply, not a trick question at all 😊. Just thinking about starting points further east than Sarria and it appeals to walk 100 miles. We are intending to walk via Samos. Thanks for your attention and advice 😊

Requesting some thoughts (re starting point) from experienced pilgrims, please?

Thank you - yes, we will continue to Santiago. We had been thinking about staying nights at places other than the ”stage ends” so we are loving the advice from everyone 😊. Thank you for the weather advice - is either time likely to have fewer rainy days than the other, please?
