    September Camino 2024

Sounds good. I did SJPDP TO Santiago in 2016, then Roncesvalles to Burgos the following year. Think the next time I do the Frances, I'm going to start in Burgos (I loved the Meseta! - does that make me a bad person? 🤣), then go as far as Ponferrada before picking up the Camino Invierno to SDC...

    want solitude

Do the Camino del Norte instead of the Frances would be my advice . . . It's pretty much the same distance, but a lot less popular

    €12000 fine on Route Napoleon?

If you don't attempt the Napoleon route when it is legally closed, none of the details actually matter. Next! 😉🤣

Is it permissible to skip Sarria to Santiago?

Not sure how much time you have. If you just don't want the Sarria - Compostela busyness you could just pick up the Camino Invierno at Ponferrada. You could skip a section after the Pyrenees to cater for the time you have available. That way, you get to walk over the Pyrenees, miss the section...

First-time Camino walkers seeking taxi advice for SJPDP to Orisson

When I walked the CF with my wife and we started our Camino in Roncesvalles. We over-nighted in SJPDP and took Express Bouricott across to Roncesvalles ( think they do (did) a regular luggage/pilgrim transfer to there. It was a good few years ago though so probably worth checking)

    Zubiri or Larrasoana?

It's always worth going 'off-stage' in my experience. My mantra is normally, 'never stay at the bottom of the page in the guide book' Better prices, avoid accommodation pinch-points etc etc ( keep it to yourself though, or everyone will be doing it 😉)

How many people go right to Orisson?

Me too; breaking that first day up was definitely the right decision for me.

How many people go right to Orisson?

Still plenty of hill left post- Orrisson though . . . 🙃

How many people go right to Orisson?

Just a thought, if time is an issue, why not get your credencial before you leave home? I get mine mailed to me at my home address before I start out. I'm not normally in a rush, but it means that you aren't at the mercy of Pilgrim/Tourist Office opening hours/queues Hope this helps

Special Compostela for pilgrims walking longer distances?

The fact that the meeting involved Municipalities along the way points to economic motives. Camino is an important income stream for some locations but I think it would increase the 'one-upmanship' that is sometimes present in Pilgrims arriving in Santiago. Bad idea (IMO)

Best towns to take two nights on CFrances

Logroño . . Mmmm, pincho capital of Spain . .

Having a problem with Orisson confirmation.

Yeah, that's how,I remember it being when I stayed. By the way, best decision I ever took was not attempting to walk straight through to Roncesvalles from SJPDP! Have fun!!!
