    Renting horses to O Cebreiro

I rode a horse up in 2017 and it was a super cool experience. Highly recommend. Looking forward to walking up this time, though!

    Discouraged in Florida

Haha! Yes! Walk everywhere! I teach school two miles from where I live (no sidewalks) and when I was training, I walked to school many times. Inevitably, a student or co-worker would stop and ask me if I needed a ride!

Are you thinking to walk the Camino (the way of the Saint James) again?

Since August, 2017 when I arrived in SdC from SJPP, I have sworn every day that I wouldn't do it again. Ever. And....now the Norte is looking very possible for Summer 2021. Hendaye to SdC

Your favorite little bar on the Camino?

Oh yes! The one on the right under the ruins at San Anton! I think the owner's name is Angel. He asked me where I was from, started singing "Georgia, Georgia" to me. Then he asked me to marry him. I found out later he asks every female to marry him. My brother went through there the year...

Your favorite little bar on the Camino?

I had to look up the name on Google Maps, but it's Albany in the square at Leon in front of the catedral. One of the best evenings ever.

How much weight did you lose?

I weighed myself the day I left and the day I got home. I weighed exactly the same. To the ounce!!! Lol After literally walking 500 miles! So much good food in Spain.

    Private Rooms on Camino Frances

I love this story! I mostly stayed in private rooms, as well. Booking.com is excellent. I remember walking down the mountain from the Cruz de Ferro into Molinaseca. There was a man on the bridge welcoming pilgrims. Turns out I was staying at his place that night. Hotel Casa san Nicolas...

Experiences and SJPP to Santiago de Compostela?

Math teacher. I said several times that I did more math on my camino than I have my whole life-converting kilometers to miles in my head and then converting my time back to EST.

    Graffiti...but with a message

If you let graffiti get to you, you will hate every second of the Frances. It's pervasive. I've never seen graffiti like this in my life. For me it was best to embrace it and look for the messages and the fun. :)

    Graffiti...but with a message

Elvis loves you. One month before I left, we had just gotten a class pet....a California King Snake we named Elvis. It was soooo fun running into these rocks along the Way. I even carried one home with me and put in his tank. :)

The Number of Hours of Daily Walking

My pilgrimage was June/July of 2017 and I found that a lot of people stopped early in order to get out of the heat. Being from Georgia-The Deep South-my idea of heat was different than theirs. I often walked through the afternoon and enjoyed having the trail to myself.
