Rethinking my CF-ish route after Burgos (and I start in 7 days!)

I am not sure why you think you would need to "slog" across the Meseta. As with every other part of the Camino you just continue to put one foot in front of the other, not even rough mountains to "slog" up. Plenty of time for meditation & contemplation. Beautiful wide horizons encouraging to...

    Starting the Camino in Bayonne

Thank you. My suspicions are being confirmed. It's early days yet. I'm just out of hospital recovering from 3 surgeries, but there's no time like the present to be planning my next Camino.

    Starting the Camino in Bayonne

Would this route be walkable in mid-March? I'm still undecided about my Mar/Apr/May 2025 Camino.

    Auberge Borda

Buen Camino, Caminoelle. I'm just wanting to raise your awareness that there is a possibility that the Napoleon Route can still be closed in early April if the weather is still snowy. I mention this so you can casually explore the alternate route via Valcarlos in case you need it.

Is 42 days for SJPDP to Finisterre too long?

If you have the time, take it and enjoy. It will be over & in the past all too quickly. Savour every step & feel blessed. Buen Camino.

    Surprising myself!

I'm going on a 9 day trip to Kenya in November. We have been asked for our luggage to be in a soft duffel bag . My brother lent me one but he was concerned it would be too small. Too small??? I feel as though I could almost curl up in it! And I don't even need to fit in a sleeping bag or...

    Surprising myself!

You are not alone, Lisa. My daughters say they have not even heard of anyone other than me who would take the kitchen scales when going underwear shopping! 🙈😶🤭 I actually took them yesterday when shopping for summer sandals ( just in case I take them on my next trip, although I already have...

LIVE from the Camino Struggling with doubt on the Camino Frances

I wonder how often this defeatist little voice sneaks in in our daily lives & we are so distracted that we don't even identify it, & we possibly often act on it. One of the many treasures of the Camino is that we get a chance to actually hear the tapes that almost subconsciously play in our...

4 Sleeps!!!! Last minute jitters are setting in...

Dear Marska, I suggest you screenshot some of these posts of yours. They are so heartfelt & genuine. When you complete your Camino (&no doubt long before ) you can reread them and see how how far you've come. And it won't just be measured in kilometres! If jitters is what you are feeling...

A very wet day on the Camino Frances!

Poles can be good for testing the depth of muddy puddles, too .

Anyone know why Spanish people put water bottles outside their front door?

Last Camino I asked about these boards leaning up against the doors. I was told it was to stop the bottom of the doors rotting from the rain. I still can't work out how you put them back up once you go inside. Surely not everyone is out. Bit of a give-away that noone is home. 😆

Anyone know why Spanish people put water bottles outside their front door?

The bottles have a slight leak???? ( More likely a dog had a slight leak! 😄)

    How many days

The Camino is something we spend so much time dreaming about, thinking about, planning & training for. My suggestion - Don't be in any hurry for it to be over. Take as long as you possibly can.

LIVE from the Camino Falling ill on the camino

Cdeortega, I hear you. I pray that you hear you, too. You said that your mind is kicking & screaming for missing 2 days walking. You can always get transport back, or super-enjoy every other day to compensate. The Camino, as you are experiencing, takes on so much more than the physical feet...

LIVE from the Camino Falling ill on the camino

We hear you. You are in the right place, & this was meant to be. Take all the time/ time out that you need . The Camino has this way of being able to strip everything else away & putting us in touch with exactly what we need to deal with. Prayers are with you

LIVE from the Camino Falling ill on the camino

My heart goes out to you. Not at all what you'd planned, but as you have realised, it's part of what is & will be YOUR Camino. My suggestion: ball your eyes out, & let all the disappointments & sadnesses of your life wash out in the process. It will make room for a clearer, freer path ahead...
