I am here now and hoped to do 2 Caminos. Did the Portuguese first because I did the Frances last year and wanted to do the Frances again (I also felt I needed more of it)
I finished the Portuguese but fell and hurt my knee badly, so won't be able to do the Frances again. If I could do it over...
I saw that same crowd in Sarria in Sept, could hardly get past them. The cafes were all very crowded also. And couldn't find a room the last night before Santiago, quite a bummer. Plan accordingly!
It was recommended to me as a solo walker, and it is where I met so many "Camino family" friends, so I would definitely recommend it for meeting people to walk with. And its fun!
I had the best massage in El Acebo at La Casa del Peregrino, fantastic new albergue with wonderful dinner, and the masseuse was the best, can't remember his name, but young Indian man, very knowledgeable!
I just finished, and I did pretty much all those things you mentioned. And I ate a lot! 😁all that walking!! I spent between $20-70 euros a day depending on private room/ pension or albergue. So reasonable for what you get.
Well I'm certainly sorry to hear that people aren't appreciative of the hard work the volunteers are doing, and leaving messes, etc. And I'm hoping to become a volunteer and know there are more like me out there, so hopefully the situation gets a bit easier! So grateful to have stayed there...
