LIVE from the Camino Bill Beaver: St. Jean to Fisterra, March 2012

Hi all, I think this got deleted in a recent server crash, so I'm reposting now that all the entries are complete. It's not quite live, but I hope it will give folks some ideas as they prepare for their own Caminos. Hope you enjoy...

Best way to get from Pamplona to SJPP in March?

Caroline is really good with E-mails. She told me there is a chance she can drive earlier, but it will probably depend on how many other interested peregrinos contact her for the same day. Anyone?

Best way to get from Pamplona to SJPP in March?

Thank you all so much! I just sent an E-mail to Express Bourricot. I hope that when they say they will be returning in March, they mean March 1!

Easiest Places to Get Lost in Winter

I just saw my first pictures of the snow-covered route through the Pyrenees. For those who have walked in winter, what were the places where you had to be most aware and most vigilant to avoid getting lost?

Best way to get from Pamplona to SJPP in March?

"eat something before leaving Pamplona" Can't believe that hadn't occurred to me. Good advice all around. I land around 1:00 in the afternoon, so would you recommend waiting the five hours at the station or wandering Pamplona until the bus is ready to go? Thanks again!

Best way to get from Pamplona to SJPP in March?

Okay, a bus sounds manageable. Given the time of departure, how likely is it to arrive in SJPP in time to eat, register, and get to bed early enough to start up first thing the next morning? Ideally, if I'm going to see the sun set in Finisterre, I'd like to see it rise in SJPP.

Best way to get from Pamplona to SJPP in March?

Hi everyone, I understand that the bus between Pamplona and SJPP is closed for the winter, so what would be the best way to make the trip at this time of year? I'm by myself, so a taxi fare might be a bit steep for me. Are there alternatives or else other peregrinos looking to arrive on March...

SJPP to Finisterre in March 2012

Fantastic. No, I'm not being swayed by the "beware this or beware that" comments. They're valuable. "Beware" is just a contraction of "Be aware" anyway, and I believe in being prepared. One more question about finding places to stay. How are albergues and refugios marked? Do they tend to...

SJPP to Finisterre in March 2012

Wow, this was very quick, very helpful information. I'm adding this to my Camino folder, though of course, each answer has brought up new questions. For those who have walked in the snow, how did you navigate with covered markers? Where were you able to stay with numerous albergues closed...

SJPP to Finisterre in March 2012

Hello, By some miracle, I will actually have time and funds to walk El Camino Frances this coming March. I would love to make the full trip from Saint Jean Pied de Port to Finisterre, and I'm wondering, for anyone who has made that trip before, how much time should I give myself for the...
