    Live… average daily cost

I have been walking StJdP - Arzua the past 35 days, Camino Frances to Leon, San Salvador Leon-Oviedo and the Primitivo from there. Private albergues have been between 12€ and 20€ for the bed (municipals and church albergues between 7€ and 14€). Dinner menu Peregrino has been 12€-17€. So...

    Descent into Molinaseca

Yes. The country road with very little traffic runs more or less parallel to the Camino path all the way down to Molinaseca. It is about 1 km longer, however you get to enjoy the wonderful view all the way down instead of looking down at the path and being scared of slipping or falling. On my...

How busy is the CF, (May 2023)?

I am walking the Frances at the moment, am in Villamayor de Montjardin at the moment. I found amend every night upto now … Orisson I had booked early, all others I just called the evening before. There were beds free at night in all albergues since Orisson. I have not felt any stress and...

Current food/drink prices on the Camino Frances, and Trail Angels

The prices for accommodation (albergues etc) went up by 50% and more during the pandemic. That was justified, since there were far fewer pilgrims and higher costs for meeting the hygiene guidelines (only 50% beds occupiable, constant disinfection etc etc). However since 2022 the Camino (at least...

SJPP to Santiago in 30 days?

I just completed my Camino Frances a week ago. SJPdP to Santiago in 30 walking days, and from there to Finisterre in 3 days. I am about twice your age, not the fittest, though I have walked this same Camino a few times before, so knew what to expect, knew the trail by heart, and didn’t need...

Charged twice in Triacastella for the same item.

I would just dispute the transaction via the credit card provider. That is the standard process l, the easiest and the best. The merchant won’t be able to prove that they sold you the item twice. So depending on what CC you used, you sooner or later will get your money back. Amex sooner, MC or...

Rest Day between Leon and Sarria

If you are looking for a nice and quiet place, try Casa Simon in Triacastela (15 km before Sarria). Or even quieter, the beautiful Albergue Casa Flor in Murias de Rechivaldo (5 km after Astorga, call Miriam, the lively and lovely Italian chica who runs it (and speaks English).

    Azofra sheets?

I have stayed at the Albergue in Azofra twice. They don’t have sheets (would be too much to expect for a 10€ bed ..). They might have disposable paper ones, I don‘t remember. I usually don’t take a real sleeping bag with me. However, I take a silk liner (artificial silk). Weighs practically...

    Help...which app is best?

I use Camino Ninja. Very easy and intuitive to use. And on my last Camino I met Andy from Denmark, who developed and owns this app, and we had some good conversations :-)

    Refuge Orisson most unresponsive!

Just to avoid misunderstandings: I started this thread only because the booking process for the Refuge Orisson is so extremely frustrating and dysfunctional. I have stayed at Orisson thrice in 5 years. I really like the place and felt very comfortable each time. Once you are there, the service...

    Refuge Orisson most unresponsive!

    Refuge Orisson most unresponsive!

You are right about a typo while writing this post! They have multiple email addresses, as I mentioned in my original post.

    Refuge Orisson most unresponsive!

You are right. I am sorry and have changed that part. Would delete the whole thread, however there might be information in the thread useful to others. Thank you for your candid feedback.

    Refuge Orisson most unresponsive!

True. But then they should set up their own reservation site, expect you to use only that (the owner’s daughter is supposed to be running it), habe it “under maintenance” for days at a time, not read or respond to the booking requests coming in…. They could just use the phone… :-)

    Refuge Orisson most unresponsive!

Thank you for the tip about Albergue Borda. Already booked it, took me 2 minutes :) And it looks and sounds wonderful. Plus I don’t have to change my plans ..hehe. The Refuge Orisson is a fantastic place too, and their new dormitories (under that outdoor platform bar) are great. I loved staying...

    Refuge Orisson most unresponsive!

I am starting my 6th Camino next week from StJPdP. I have stayed three times at Orisson and the reservation experience was very very poor … however this time it is the worst. - I entered a reservation request in their web-based reservation system 3-4 weeks ago. No response at all. - I went to...
